XC60 OR Heavy Steering

Hey Guys, has anyone looked into a software change to add steering assist to lighten the steering on these beasts? Our new XC60 T6 AWD seems to have unnecessarily heavy steering when turning the wheel off center. This version doesn't have the 3 steering effort selections like my V60, and also doesn't seem to be variable (strange for a $52K vehicle), so things can be a bit heavy for my wife maneuvering at slower speeds. I've known other brands to have adjustability through software parameter selections.

Thanks!

Since your XC60 doesn't have Dynamic (older XC60) or isn't a XC60RD you won't have the Steering Force setting because you have the Touring Chassis. I honestly haven't noticed the steering feeling heavy on my parents XC60 and they have the 20" Titania wheels.

As far as I can find my 2015.5 XC60 RD doesn't have a steering force adjustment setting. If it's there it's buried in a menu somewhere, not a button logically placed on the steering wheel like my current Hyundai I30 rental.

I'll have it in the shop in the next week or so to have a software update flash done (surround sound settings not saving), I'll check with them then. Hoping there's a way to adjust the power steering assist setting manually in VIDA or whatever they use?

Congrats on the ocean race. We were really tempted by it (love the color), but in the end I had to go with the RD.

Thanks! Yep, we originally considered the RD, but my wife prefers this color, interior, and more comfortable ride. We still have my V60RD for fun. :)

Our dealer had an OR, and while we were finishing the paperwork before the OSD trip, I sat in it but found I couldn't stand the high leather "straping" that come across the seat bolsters, they were really high compared to the normal sports seats and rubbed me the wrong way, literally. However I loved the color and interior details.

Congrats on the OR and the new baby!

Thank you! We're very happy about both new additions! :)

I know what you're saying about the seats. It only seems to bother me if I have something in my pocket where that strip hits, if that makes any sense. I drove it on a two hour day trip yesterday, and didn't notice it. It's the wife's daily driver, so as long as she's happy with it.... I just hope there's a software update, setting change, etc. to adjust up the steering assist. Driving my V60 RD this morning, the steering assist (medium setting) felt so nice compared to this XC60's non-adjustable version.

Great looking color.

Congrats on expecting your first child; that is even more exciting!

Thanks Yannis, very exiting...and scary! ;)

Edit: No pun intended on the "exiting", make that exciting!

Congrats on the soon to be parents! We are expecting in August, hence why we are scaling up from a S60 to a XC60; I'm really hoping that we can get out to the dealer this upcoming weekend.

Hey thanks and congrats to both of you also! You'll really appreciate the extra room and softer ride for the little one. Much more room in the cargo compared to our V60's (and especially the S60's), and it comes with a spare tire beneath the nice storage tray! I have to say, as I've gotten to see it everyday, they are really sharp looking vehicles inside and out:)

Btw, be sure to get one of the AWD's! ;)

Ok Pete,
I had a chance to go test drive some XC60's this weekend. I noticed that the ones with the 18" wheels had a bit more resistance in their handling than the ones with the 19" and 20" wheels.

You read that correctly 19" wheels. We drove and are going with a 2016 XC60 T6 AWD Premier/Convenience/Proximity/BLIS/Heated Fronts/19" wheels/Contour Seats (same as the V60CC seats, rougher texture). They are going to look around for one in Saville Grey or Onyx Black first instead of the Osmium Grey that they had (3rd color choice). We are just going to wait for the July Programs so they have monies on them. We could also go with a XC60RD Premier to get the Xenons, so we'll see how the monies and financing works out. Here are some pictures.

A few things I wasn't to happy with was the fact they added more emblems "3.0 T6 AWD" is a lot and awkward looking (very busy); though the biggest annoyance was they used two different types of "6's" on the rear. No more paddle shifters even with the sport seats (oh well I guess wife won't use them anyways). I can easily fix the T6 emblem to the one on the 2013-2015.5MY.

Also R-Designs no longer have the badge on the grille and look even worse with all the emblems on the rear.

My guess is that they want a way to differentiate the 2016 from the earlier models and to market to those not familiar with Volvos. Letting folks know the T6 is a 3 liter turbo engine similar to what some of the other folks have, this way they pull in some attention from cross shoppers to turn them into buyers. I love that color grey in the photo, 2016s are sporting the wheels from the XC90 as well, I like that look.

No RD badge on the grille? I wonder where else they cheaped out. :( agree with you about the mismatch in height with the polestar badge placement.

Yea it's a real bummer, I wonder if it said R-Design on the door sills still but I wasn't allowed to look inside because it was purchased. The R-Design for the grille is an easy fix, it's a separate emblem that screws in from behind the grille, but agree that it's either cutting corners or they are going for a more sleeper look.

Nice, they have the 19" available again on the XC60; would be a good compromise! I believe I've seen these specific ones on the new XC90.

Also thought about putting my V60's Bor's on:

Yea those 19" wheels on the XC60 look exactly like the 20" wheels on the new XC90. The 19" Bor wheels look good actually against the dark blue.
