Posting here but I usually post on the SPA-XC90 and S60 forums. Any other Top Gear or Grand Tour fans watch last weeks season finale where they had the 3 SUVs do the steeplechase course pulling a horse trailer? They had a bursting blue XC60 RD T6 and it supposedly broke something over one of the jumps. It was an air-ride model b/c before the run he was putting in in off road mode and commenting about raising the clearance. Good segment, good press for Volvo. Fortunately they didn't comment much on the noise the car was making after the jump. Cars were Alfa Stelvio, RR Velar, and XC90 RD T6. Wonder what they broke, the car was not sagging like it was an air ride problem, sounded like maybe they broke the rear diff or driveshaft.

No, I heard them complain about the engine mounting as the object that broke and caused engine noise.

They said Volvo made the mounting too small as if they didn't expect the car to go on very bumpy roads.

I saw the interesting clip. At least it came second with Range Rover Velar coming last. I expected the Range to win it though. Was quite taken aback it didn't and Volvo came second in spite of the broken engine mounting. Had it not been this mounting, it was going to lead, as it was in the front.

They were generally pretty positive about the XC60 and Volvo in the segment which was nice to see.

As a pure car guy myself I was pleased to see them recognize Volvo for building a real SUV that's not yet another SUV trying to be a sports car.

Engine mount broke twice on two different XC60s. It's not entirely surprising considering most SUVs are not real offroad vehicles. In all the years of top gear the only SUVs that seem to off road well are Range Rovers, the Toyota Land Cruiser and certain Jeep models. I would only consider the Toyota to be reliable in terms of a daily driver.
