You likely would want to hold off a bit from placing a factory order now. Today, Volvo released an article about the changes coming to 2026. Only the XC60 is missing from the list but they said that they have more surprises to show for MY2026. This looks to me like the XC60 will be getting a facelift with 2026.
That’s a good pickup. It is quite odd for Volvo to drop their best-seller from their press release. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean a facelift is coming. Instead, it could also mean that the tech updates mentioned in that release are not included in the MY26 XC60, which would be a shame if true. I don’t see why Volvo can’t include XC60 in that release without mentioning anything about the facelift if the same updates are included.

From internal parts databases, code, and some insiders the 2026 XC60 and S90 will see a similar refresh and gain the larger display with the Snapdragon-powered infotainment. That's why they were left out of the press release -- simply so Volvo can control the messaging and hype the vehicles when they're ready to. A refreshed model is a bigger deal than just a screen. This is typical Volvo to leave out details to keep consumers guessing...

Strange that the XC60 was not included in the press release.

Has the cutoff to order MY 2025 XC60s been shared yet? Any idea of when 2026 details are likely to be released based off when these announcements are usually shared?

Likewise...also considering buying my first Volvo and I love the current XC60. Then again, I'm afraid to buy a 2025 only to find out a new/updated generation will be even better, and will have missed the boat. I wish there was more information out there.
The reality is that there's always going to be something new each year. Based on Volvo's track record for introducing significantly revamped models with problems, if it were me, I'd go with a mildly updated model instead. Looking at the first intro of the vehicles around the 2016 model year, personally, I felt it took to at least until the 2019 model year to iron out most of the major issues (e.g., oil rings, premature brake pad wear, front crank shaft seal, etc). I bought a factory ordered 2020 V90 Inscription T6 and, to date and with 48K miles, I have not experienced any significant issues. When Volvo switched from Sensus to Google in 2021/2022 there were significant problems early on. At least based on the dwindling complaints I've noticed in Swedespeed, I think the new infotainment system has become more stable.

A lot of what they're talking about is over the air updates that will go to all Google cars - namely the Snapdragon uX. We don't have any details here on MY26 altogether, but safe to say that EX90 will mostly carry over as well as the refreshed XC90. The announcement on the V90CC is not public but the writing is on the wall.

I sat in a 2025.5 XC90 with the larger center screen yesterday. It's definitely bigger but it just looks out of place...like an add-on. Doesn't flow with the rest of the dash like the current XC60. Salesman said it mimics what other brands are doing, and is likely to end up on the 2026 XC60 refresh. I haven't been in any other new vehicles so maybe that's just the trend.

He's likely right though we don't know how soon the refresh will come.

I wouldn't be surprised that Volvo reveals the XC60 facelift when they unveil the ES90. Another, less possible, reveal date is 6th February when the quarterly investors report is scheduled to happen.

So, I came to seek answers but might share some of my own findings.

We went looking at the new XC90 a week ago. Since we avg 4000km per year, the sales guy also suggested the XC60 which we’ve looked at but neglected as we thought it was as big as our Tiguan… not neglected any more!

To the info, he said that there will be a similar facelift coming to XC60 with deliveries starting in late 25. Also said, it’s a matter of a week or two before we know more.. let’s see. That was four business days ago.

It's definitely what we want to see but we haven't heard anything about it yet. I don't doubt that it's coming, it's only the timing that we aren't sure of. We've received our February allocations so far only for XC90s.

This was shared in an internal meeting. XC60 is one of the confirmed refresh targets. S90 may be the other, to be sold alongside the ES90... like the EX90/2025.5 XC90.

No wagons? Volvo is, at best, a mere shadow of its former self…
Rowan committed to an electric wagon some time ago (if a LinkedIn post can be considered "committed"). I suspect it'll be a SPA3 vehicle. The V90CC is now dead in all markets, and the V90 Hybrid reduced to 2 basic trims in its home market of Sweden, so I suspect it's done for.

If there is to be a wagon, it need to be sized 60 series because there is already an ES90.

But Volvo is now, mostly, an SUV company. Sad, sad, sad.

Oh wow! I did not notice. Maybe it is also wider which makes the increase in length less obvious?

I hope to see all kinds of fun EV stuff from Volvo and other makes in 2027 in time for my lease end!! 😉
The width is marginally different, not much though.

The 60s will be a really big deal. With the megacasting, the cost of build will go down so they'll end up being a fair bit less expensive than the 90s ... maybe a bigger spread than it is now.
