Looking at the interior shot, thru the driver's door; there seems to be some sort of knob or control, about where the drivers right ankle would be. Does anyone know the purpose of that?<P>

The thing down by where the driver's right ankle would be is indeed an air vent.<P>I think the picture has some parallax in it so it appears crooked.<P>There are quite a few SUV's out there that still use foot brakes. I personally don't like them but its not a biggie.<P>Pat<P>

It looks like the wheel is tilted all the way up for the photo. As for the emerg brakes, it's in good company, my ML has the same thing. I do wish there was a "dead pedal" behind it.<P>

Thanks, Pat & Pat. <IMG SRC="http://www.swedespeed.com/ubb/smile.gif"><P>I know it's no biggie, I just prefer the type with the handle, that's all. On the other hand, tho, the center console does have a cleaner, neater appearance without the extra handle.<BR>I like the brushed aluminum look of the shifter & the base, surrounded by the dark wood. Nice touch.<BR>Good point about the dead pedal, I agree.<P>
