Hi, I'm a new owner of a R, i got it 3 month ago. I got a problem since i got the car. When i go WOT i got something like cut off/ missfire from 2500-4500 RPM. I don't have any probleme between those rpm when a drove it normaly. I have change: tcv, spark plug, cbv and i don't have any issue. I haved connect my car to VIDA today and he see nothing wrong. I don't know what i could try so i need your help ! All the mod's are in my signature.

P.S. Sorry for my english i'am french canadian

Cutoff like that can sometimes be from too tight a waste gate. Dial that back one turn and see if it makes a difference.

it could be the waste gate even though I never touched him? If it is the coil pack, it sould have a code for the missfire ? how i can test my coil pack ?

Thanks

If you have problems at just WOT then it's most likely MAF related. In WOT the computer doesn't take information from the front O2 sensor and just uses it's readings from the MAF, and if the MAF is giving faulty readings the computer will not be able to correct them (since it doesn't view the results from the O2 sensor) and you will have misfires and low power.

Before you replace anything else clean your MAF, it's cheap, easy, and a cleaning could fix your problem.

You CAN have misfires without codes. Drive with vida and use misfire counter.

On 04 you'll have to select any misfire code under fault tracing trouble codes then click on VCT symbol to activate counter. Then drive

Okay UPDATE, Chap brought his car over today, we swapped MAF's and the problem still persisted. When we went for a drive i monitored his fuel psi with my scan gauge, no drops. The cut out is definitively boost related and not misfire/coil...
In my opinion it sounded like the CBV quickly opening and closing letting off pressure. We checked the vac lines they seem fine and he has a brand new TCV.

Were are thinking something to do with the wastegate that's been affecting it since pre-purchase. One of our local volvo quebec members has an ipd adjustment tool, well try and borrow it..

Thank you all for your input. Mucking around with his car tonight has given me the motivation to install my fmic tmr :)

its deff your coil packs i had the same problem when my car boosted it fell flat on its face through that rpm range....and it drove fine if i didnt boost
do all five you might as well
very easy and quick took me about 45 min for all 5. they are cheap too on tasca

i wasted a lot of money listing to people tell me it had to deal with my MAF and waste gate........R's eat up coil packs as a result of the harsh conditions produced by the turbo

colin2211 i think you're right. Because today i made some test with my waste gate and it doesn't change anything. so it look to be the coil ..

probably won't notice much but it can round out your already extensive mod list. It probably also depending what final goals you have. I'm to lazy to look up the price diff. what is it?

pretty small price diff. the hd ipd ones are on sale as well. 20% increase in perf. according to ipd... I know people had pos. experiences with them. You are probably be fine either way and with your mods i'd probably lean towards the ipd hd's. Whether or not you would actually see any noticeable affects of oem vs. ipd I wouldn't expect much. You will notice a difference either way though changing from old worn out coil packs to new.

tasca should be cheaper than that, I ordered a complete coil set (5) and also spark plugs last week and my total with shipping was $239. From what I've read, Ipd's HD will not give much noticeable increase and the stockers are adequate unless you are planning some more serious modifications.
