Considering a purchase of a 99 V70R with wood interior accents. We have this on our 98s70 and would rather not have it again.
Is it a b*#ch to remove/ replace? Cost? I tried a google search with no luck.
Anybody try to paint it? I have a small model/ prototype shop and work with automotive finishes. Maybe try to simulate the alluminum/ metal look.
Thanks.

You can buy the black plastic but why the heck would you?
EVERYONE would rather have wood or aluminum trim over the black plastic
Never in my 11+ years with Volvos have I ever heard anyone say this!
(You can buy aluminum trim)

To answer your question, 3 out of the 4 trim pieces are literally a piece of cake. However, removing the trim around the radio and climate control area is ridiculous. It's not difficult just really really time consuming. The lower dash has to come out to get at the torx screws which are all facing the wrong way...
I might be interested in the wood trim though if you want to sell it.

Jim the 4th trim piece is in the back of the armrest console. It is the piece that houses the 12v plug for the rear seats and some of them have the rear seat heater switch as well (popular in Scandinavia) - different trim pieces for with or w/out the rear heated seats. That piece simply pops in and out as long as you unplug the 1 or 2 connectors for the items mentioned above.

I just get a kick that he thinks he's always right lol. I've replaced these on cars before so I know that for the wood trim they give you that rear piece as well.
However, I just learned something if the aluminum ones are 3 piece only.

I may buy the glove box for the black maple so see how that looks. Glove box is the least expensive piece. Volvo also has "Carbon" and it would be interesting to see what that looks like.
I got to two of the torx screws by feeling around but the lower two I just can't get.

Re: (JRL)

Suggestions for how to remove from the vents, etc., without leaving a sticky mess? I'm ready to part with it. (You KNOW I didn't add it.)
