My windshield had a little nudge in it for sometime which I seemed to oversee because it was blocked by the rear view mirror. Yes the nudge split and the entire upper windshield is badly cracked now. Im looking at some online and its giving me the option of a rain sensor? which i knoew nothing about and do not even know if my car has it. Thanks.

rain sensors are an option. you will know that you have it by the extra button on your windshield wiper stalk. its rectangular, and if you press it, and its raining, it will take control of your windshield wipers <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/biggrin.gif" BORDER="0">

I'm pretty sure it's a pressure sensitive thing and your wipers are activated when the glass senses the water. Then again, maybe it's a conductive thing...

Yes I woulda thought they were a newer feature but even when I called the volvo dealer just to get their quote they asked for my vin to determine whether or not it had it. I guess it doesnt. Im definately getting the wind shield from a car yard though, a whole $400 cheaper.
