I'm now searching for:

1) Windscreen glass

2) Windscreen gasket/seal

3) Read window gasket/seal

Does anyone happen to know if any of these parts are common with their 240 counterparts?

Thanks

Front windshield is same for '71 140 and 240 '75-'78.

Front seal is also same years.

Rear window seal is same 140/240 sedan 2 or 4 door.

Let us know which front glass you want (Volvo Part Number) and then we will go shopping.

Thanks.

Thanks, George.

That's encouraging, but confusing at the same time. Looking at all the different windscreens that SAKNDIX offers, I see some that are listed as 140-only, I see some that are listed for 200-only, and some that are listed for 140, 164, 200. It leaves me wondering what subtle differences might exist, and which is the best choice.

The gaskets show similar variations in the application, and there are some notes about gaskets that are no-glue, and gaskets that are used with adhesive and clips.

The only volvo parts books that I have are for the 140, and based on that here's what I've deduced:

- Windscreen; same for all years thru '74
- Windscreen gasket; different gaskets for '72 and earlier, versus 73-74. I don't know what's different.
- Rear window gasket; same part for all years thru '74

As for actually buying the parts, I'd obviously like to find them in the US. At some point I'll place an order with CVI and/or SKANDIX and bite the bullet on shipping from Europe, but I want to get this car painted in the next few weeks, and a good paint job means removing the glass. Plus, there is a small crack in the windscreen and it will probably not pass inspection in it's current state, and it may not survive removal either. So ideally I would get these parts in hand and confirm fit as best I can before removing the existing glass.

Next I'll try to find a 200 series parts book to see what it has to say about these parts.

Many thanks

You can get a windshield that will fit from SafeLight or some other glass company. I got one installed in my 73 145E for $199 installed. They could not identify one for the 73 so I told them get one for a 1980 245. It fit fine. Mine is mounted with adhesive so you will still have to get a gasket. VP-Autoparts has the gaskets.

I may be wrong, but I think I saw somewhere that the later 240 flush mount windscreen fits all 140/240s and gives a better seal.

This is a very big download so once complete save a copy...

http://www.skandix-usa.com/sess/utn...2c043/media/pdf/SKANDIX_Catalog_Volvo_200.pdf

727 pages with pics and Volvo Part Numbers for the 200 series Volvo AND showing all other Volvo models that each part also fits.

Start on Page 535 to Page 540 to see ALL front and rear windscreen applications for 240/260/140 including important notes about seals, clips, adhesive, etc.

Prior pages have ALL info on seals, adhesive, clips, install kits, etc.

Once a certain front windshield glass is decided upon share the Volvo Part Number so we can go shopping.

BTW, as mentioned, a full-service auto glass shop can find the correct windshield and have it headed your way but they probably will want to do the install also.
