Hello,

In a recent storm, the highlighted molding next to the window blew off while driving on the highway. I found a car with the same color at a local salvage yard and would like to get the piece off. Does anyone have a way to get this off without breaking it? Or will the clips most likely break and need to be replaced before installing again?

Thank you

To be certain, you're talking about the rubber/silicon squishy things between the exterior frames (e.g. between the roof/doors) that are cracking off due to age?
I have the same issue and would like to do the same thing as you

On my car the entire plastic trim piece including the rubber molding came off. I was just hoping to see how hard it is to pull one off another car at a salvage yard or would it be better to buy a new one.

Remove the triangular rubber trim at the bottom corner of the windshield (2 press in clips). Then, pull up the windshield trim from the inside edge. You will likely break the plastic clips. If you are unlucky, someone has glued it on with silicone. The trim has an aluminum core. So, a little flexible, but it can be bent. You can sometimes slide the trim off of the clips along the roof. There are 3 different types of clips used.

The S60 trim is no longer available.

Remove exactly as Exocet said. The clips are essentially sacrificial and will break when the trims are removed. That is why yours broke in the first place when your originals were removed for some reason. Probably a windshield replacement. The dope didn't replace the clips and glued them back on. That's why it blew off. For both sides you will need 3 different types of clips. For a total # you need 6 Yellow clips #30678009, 2 White clips # 9190981, These are for alongside the windshield itself. These clips will definitely break. Then along the roof there are also clips that don't usually break if you remove the trims carefully. You might be able to grab these from the junkyard car. I "THINK" there are 7 per side. These are black clips, part # 8622906. FCP has these clips for far less $$ than Volvo and they are the same.
Start removing from the front bottom along the windshield and work your way back. Note that the rear ends of the trims enter the rear moldings along the rear window. They slide into these. Look at the witness marks where the 2 meet for alignment length. I recently did this for cosmetics on my S60. Exocet provided these moldings for me, and I am very satisfied with the results.
