Re: Will using T5 wheels/tires improve R turning radius?... (BrunoS)

How exactly are you planning on making the t5 wheels fit? All you need is enough spacing in the front so the wheels don't rub to utilize the full turning radius. Also t5 wheels would look pretty hideous compared to the pegs.

In theory a narrower rim and tire combination would have the result you are trying to accomplish. Unfortunately I do not believe the difference in turning radius would be at all noticed in actuality.

Add to the mix that the t5 rims would require spacers to clear the Brembo brakes and you are back at square one.

Frankly, I can't imagine the turning radius being much worse than it already is on my T5...

woah, tethys are beautiful wheels, they could actually look really cool on an R, if they would fit.

Oh, yeah, I have 16" stock wheels on my T5 right now, and the turning radius SUCKS.

put 15mm spacers up front and get some thinner profile tires (stretch those bad boys)... make sure you never come within 1" of a curb and adjust your steering stops until you rub...

Thanks for the reply. My lease is up in July and only the turning radius is holding the buy-out. It seems I cannot remedy this problem, so now I will have to shell out a lot of money for a comparable car that can turn: BMW, Audi or MB.

beautiful?? are you kidding me? The only decent looking wheel Volvo has ever created would be 18" pegs but still far from beautiful..

That is one abso-freaking-lutely terrible turning radius. Sorry guys.

How I long for the day that modern Volvo's turn on a dime like the 240's

Nebula's and Orpheus wheels also came on T5's and look damn sharp.

Yeah, another good example. Maybe I misspoke though, beautiful was too strong of a term, maybe they are cool, and they look really good.

That's what happens when you build up an already cramped area with Brembos and 8" wide rims.

How I long for the day that modern Volvo's have true RWD like the 240's

There's your problem... kinda. The brakes are half of it, but the mainly FWD platform is the other half of the equation. So, pick one- drive over curbs to make a U-turn on a city street (ala Scarface**), or pull the parking brake like I did this morning, once i realized the side gate to my work wasn't open and I had to go around to the front.

** I can't believe I found this, but go 1:13 into the video.
