Folks,
The 13g turbo on my 97 850 w/170k on it is starting to smoke badly (blue smoke). The car has had a ECU upgrade done to it by IPD 100K ago. My question is will a 15G turbo from a 98 S70 GLT work on my car? Not a speed racer here and seldom into the boost but tired of burning oil also.
If so, what parts (seals, bolts etc) would be part of the replacement process?
Thanks.
John

just replace the turbo housing and yes
do not replace your exhuast housing with the 15g since its conical compared to the 13g wich is flat flanged

Re: (Chilled Man)

I didn't know they offered the 15G in 98.
But if they did, it should be a straight flange which would be a direct bolt up, right.

Yea the 15G wasn't offered on the 98s. If it was a 98 GLT car then it had a 13G in it, straight flanged just like your 97 so direct bolt up.
If you do want to upgrade to the 15G (in other words, if that's the turbo you have as a replacement) that's great and it should be no problem as long as it's also straight flanged. If it's not then just swap the exhaust housings.
