For someone new to ownership of a foreign vehicle, can you guys tell me where are decent sources to get some of the European parts?
I'd like to next get the wide-angle mirror, but the local dealer here in NY said they can't get anything from the European versions. I have part #30634719 if anyone can confirm that. Any information appreciated!
Thanks. Love the R!
Joe
If so, I got mine from Borton (http://www.borton.com/parts_land_frameset.html, click-on "Retail Parts" on the LH side and scroll halfway down) and the install was a snap. Excellent "safety" mod!
BTW, the website shows the Water Repellent version is backordered until November.
Regards,
Derek

Re: Wide-angle mirror (jrgoffin)

I have an aspheric mirror on my driver's side and they are indeed excellent. I for the life of me can't figure out why NHTSA or whoever has decided American's are too stupid to safely use these mirrors. I guess sideswiping cars on the highway is preferred...

Re: Wide-angle mirror (rollie)

I have one on my '98 (different PN) and it's one of the main reasons I prefer driving a Volvo.
I've even tried to find these things for the Hondas, with no success.

Re: Wide-angle mirror (GrecianVolvo)

Maybe they order them in bulk from Europe?
(The glass for my '98 popped out of the US system when I ordered it, but that was before Ford took over.)
BTW, they tell me the '07 mirrors are differrent, but they will have 'em.

Re: Wide-angle mirror (barrysharp)

Well I just put my euro spec glass in and my feeling are mixed...
It seems like visibility is much worse, not only at the far left area behind the dotted lines, but the entire viewing area is slightly distorted...
Is this normal or am I missing something? Is there a treatment that the glass should get? A protective foil that has to be removed beofre use? The glass in my '04 sits differently than the original US spec glass...
Anyone?

I am going to give it another week and then decide if I can live with the distortion... It does however make my routine "over the shoulder check" redundant and unnecessary...
