For those of you familiar with the design of the taillights on the '90 740 and the S70 you know that the layout of the taillights are basicly identical. My question is why the the bottom inside red lights never go on for anything no matter which car. I checked all the bulbs, and fuses. I will post a drawing soon.
-Poritz

Your pic doesn't work for me, but like Ben mentioned, if you are talking about the rear fog lights, only one turns on (I believe it's the left one) using the rear foglight switch. The right one will never turn on as there is no bulb in there. It is done that way so that the rear fog lights won't be mistaken as brake lights. You can however add a bulb in there. All you have to do is brake the tab and put in a bulb.

Strange thing is there is a bulb on both sides. I will look into it further.
-Poritz

Poritz,
Mike is right. Also, check your fuse box for the fog-light bulbs. When I got my 960 it did not have a fuse for the rear fog-light so it didn't work. I also moded it by breaking the tab for the second fog-light bulb and put two low powered bulbs in their to match the regular rear lights.
Since we never get fog where I live, it works out nice as an extra light source in the back.
-Drew

Allright so I think I figured things out. I was in fact refering to the rear foglights. I found the switch on the left hand side of the steering column, just to the right of the headlight/foglight switch. On my 740 for some reason both sides light up. I don't know why as the car belonged to Volvo Corporation before we bought it. I certainly haven't done anything to it.
I will update soon.
-Poritz

Volvo used to have both rear fog-lights, light up up until the early 90's, and then they changed it to only one rear fog light operational. It is better that way for safety reasons.
My parents used to own a 264 GLE and 744 GLE, both with the dual rear foglights operational.
-Drew
