Just curious how the miles are stacking up on the XC90's. A fairly uneducated guess would be around 55,000 miles being the high mark...

I think It's higher, we only have 36K but I know others had well into mid 40's and beyond a year ago

Heck, I don't drive that much and am approaching the 100 km mark (62500 mi). Original brakes, too.

Re: Who wins the award for most miles on their XC90 (david)

David,
The only thing worth mentioning was the replacement of both rear wheel bearings at 53,000 miles, just outside warranty. The rest have been minor adjustments, all covered by warranty.
No, we didn't get the extended warranty. I figured that I rather put the $2,000+ in a money market account and use the money for repairs when needed. If you really think about it, only major failures such as engine or transmission problems, will push the bill past the $2,000+ mark. And how often, statistically, will that happen on a new vehicle that you are driving carefully and servicing regularly?

Our NAV DVD player went out and that was $2000. We had our exhaust replaced from beyond the headers back and that was $2000.

In fact, the bearings get an automatic extended warranty (4 years in total if I remember well) due to an unexpected in-factory weakness.
In other words, if you had to pay for this, it is NOT normal. You would rather Check with Volvo or with your dealer.
Good luck.

I did visit my Volvo dealer today and my service advisor had not heard of adjustments to the warranty you are talking about. He speculated that it might have been your local dealer deciding to extend the warranty on the bearings as a goodwill gesture. He suggested I contact Volvo N.A. to ask about this as they are unable to do anything for me.
I see that you are located in Europe. Could this be an European thing?

Hi Kaitsu,
That could indeed be an European thing but usually I tend to think that the U.S get much better deals than we do in Europe. Anyway, I am 100% sure that it is not a nice gift from the dealer (who was not the dealer where I bought it by the way...).
I was with the mecanics guys behind his computer and he listed to me the list of parts which get an extended guarantee. He also made a printed copy for me so I can refer to it later.....
Keep the pressure !

By the way, to stay in line with this topic :
95.000 km since October 2003
