I am considering a subwoofer for my S60R. Apparently, Volvo does not have one, so who has one and how id you install it? What kind, where did it go, how did it go in there, etc. I assume we have to use a high power input from the speakers, rather than from the head unit.

Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Rich

Re: Who has a subwoofer in his/her S60R? How and Where? (rmolk)

I have 2 12s in an enclosure with a 450 watt mono amp attached to the back of the enclosure. I just have it mounted up against the folding rear seats. It's all MTX brand ordered from Crutchfield. The enclosure just fits in the trunk up against the rear seat backs. With this set up though you loose alot of trunk space and the pass through from folding down the rear seats. I would recommend the Infinity powered sub from Crutchfield. Much smaller compact package.
I used the AMPs line level inputs, tapped into the rear speakers for the sound source and adjusted the amps lowpass cutoff, gain, etc to get the desired effect (Good solid tight bass, no artilliery fire effect). The battery for the car is in the trunk so hooking up power and ground for the amp is simple.
