With the Rosso's mostly used up, it's time to replace my tires. This is my big chance to upgrade from 17" Pegs to either 1.) 18" Pegs or 2.) 18" Ronal R41's.

Here are the three options on a Titanium S60R:

If "R" Kelly's new Ultraleggeras are Inga's "new Italian shoes", then I suppose the Ronals would be Feta II's "new German clogs".

Re: (nikhsub11)

The 17" R41 is listed at 22 pounds, so I assume that the 18" size would be withing a couple of pounds of that weight... Not a huge weight savings, but it's still for the better.

Re: Which Wheel Would You Choose? Considering My Options... (RainyS60R)

I vote the 18in pegs. I have the R41s in 17in for winter, and think the car looks better with the 18in pegs. However, the pegs will be atleast $100 more a rim.

Also, the R41s look like Acura RSX rims.

Re: (MASH)

While Ronal (Gary) may have had several bad customer service occurences with several people, the sale was very satisfactory for me when I purchased my winter wheel package. Gary was pretty nice to me and worked with me when the rims that I wanted was already sold out.

Stay with the 17's. They should weight a little less.
Why go with 18's? It is hard to tell the difference at a casual glance. Tires are more expensive, the ride will probably have a slightly negative impact.
The craze with the bigger wheels going on is to me silly (esp on the R since the visual impact is so little). The positive is a little better max cornering ability.

I think the Ronal RT TWIN would look way better. Can you photoshop it for all to see?

For the price of 18 pegs you can get OZ ultraleggera's from TR. If you like the looks of them (which is the main thing with aftermarket wheels if you don't race or track your car) the ultraleggera's will also improve your performance. Get five of what ever you choose though.

Re: (Short Circuit)

Short Circuit,

In this case I can do better than Photoshop, plus I couldn't locate any good side shots of this wheel. The attached photos are from the Ronal website. I'll agree that the RT by itself looks great, but when it's on the car (in the bright silver finish) I am not so sure. I think the Peg looks better... Now the custom Nordkap finished wheel is another story; however, I would shoot myself if it ever touched a curb. I could handle any one of the three major visual mods on the car below, but not all three together (lowered, body kit and the wheels). Now, if anything resembles an Acura RSX it is that car!!!

Flybynight,

As for the 17" vs. 18" Pegs I must admit this is an odd swap. Something about the larger 18" Peg really does make the car look better IMHO, or at least more brawny like a 300-hp car should look. My thought is that I will sell the 17" Pegs on eBay or S/S to offset the cost of the new wheels ~ $200 to $300 loss at the end of the day I figure in either case. With all the recent discussion of spacers, perhaps that will give me the look that I want without the headaches...

Did you mean springs??

BTW, I think ForceRecon has these wheels. He got them in Nordkap, I believe, painted in the center curves (not the whole wheel) but you're now talking an extra $$$ per wheel, making it quite a pricey mod.

Re: (Short Circuit)

I was also thinking when I first saw this post, that the Ronal RT TWIN would be a better choice (I remember a recent thread on a Silver R with really HUGE pics
). Keep in mind the silver wheel pic off the Ronal site shows 17's and the Nordkap version is done in 18. I agree that an 18 inch wheel suits the R better.

While I won't be doing a full Nordkap finish with my Sonic Blue (
) , I think it looks splendid with the Titanium. I'd rock that.

you got a 40+ thousand dollar car... a couple hundred bucks to paint(i would do powder coat) all four wheels is not that big of a deal. The R is a classy car. don't do anything unless you are willing to do something you will be happy with in the end.
