I'm about to finish off my TME turboback system and I'm already thinking about my next mod. Summer is coming up, so an FMIC seems like a no brainer.<p>However, the IPD Stage 2 ECU upgrade looks pretty tasty too.<br>(Q: Does the IPD scan tool and datalogging software package access the CEL OBD-II codes or are they the codes that the dealer pulls down w/VIDA?)<p>Based on your learned experience, on which should I pull the trigger first? Aquamist over a FMIC? No way. Better, more consistent, more reliable results from the IC.<p>IF you plan on eventually doing both, I'd go w/ the IC before the tune - why bother w/ the extra boost if you're going to be heat-soaked and pulling timing anyway? <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/biggrin.gif" BORDER="0">

I think everyone's first mod should be methanol/water injection. That way you actually get the power you paid for, at a reasonable price. All of the major car magazines are raving about it, and for good reason--it works.

FMIC IS a no brainier...you are going to be losing a lot of power with the heat, so a tune will be handcuffed.

I agree with tomedkaz on that one but if you are going for power IPD stage 2 gets my vote... A FMIC is going to be the last mod I do... Personally I am waiting for the one from IPD along with there IC Pipe upgrade !!! <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://********************/smile/emthup.gif" BORDER="0">

Not to hijack this guys thread but since we are on the topic of power... I understand / know that the stock FMIC (s) suck... But I will rarely see temps over 80 degrees where I am going to be in Idaho... Upgrading to a better option PhMIC or the bell as of right now, will give a good boost in power based on less pressure drop and better cooling and little to no heatsoak. But with a full exhaust the IPD stage 2 doesn't change with the addition of an aftermarket intercooler... I don't plan on changing the turbo or anything else and the FMIC is the last thing I need to do... But not to be a little weenie or anything but I don't want to add a big BELL Intercooler and have the dealer try and tell me my warranty is void... That is really the only thing holding me back from the intercooler right now... Another reason I plan to wait and see what IPD will come up with... <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://********************/smile/emthup.gif" BORDER="0">

There are some minor things you need to do yourself, brackets that have to be bent, a hols needs to be drilled and tapped and a DIY o-ring sourced, *but* compared to the Bell pricing, it's the DEAL OF THE CENTURY. <p>If you don't see temps over 80 degrees, i'm not sure how much I would worry about it to be honest. If you do the other mods first, then you'll know first hand how much heat soak will play into things if you experience it. <p>Wait till your warranty is up and then do the FMIC <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/wink.gif" BORDER="0">

FMIC, and THEN get your Stage 2 Tune to avoid the re-tune cost.

Especially since it seems that the IPD stage II got buried beneth the FMIC as what to do first... I am going to be so busy getting all the mods together when I get back...
