OK, now I need some advice on exhaust...apparently Volvo's should not be chipped unless they have an exhaust upgrade...and I have no idea where to start, as I cannot find any web sites with .wav files for sounds. I want a decent performance exhaust, but not the big watermelon launcher tip, or anything too loud...I would rather be stealth with a little bit of "you didn't expect that sound to come from a Volvo did you?" sort of tone when I get on it.
Any idea where to start looking for the right cat back system for my 97 T5 Wagon?
Thanks again fellas.

BSR and iPd sell the same exhaust, but I guess that iPd logo on the tip costs you $300 Engstrom Motorsports.

[Modified by swdracr, 9:13 AM 11-5-2002]

http://www.eurosporttuning.com also carries the TME exhaust that IPD carries, for about $540 plus shipping. Like IPD, they are a very good company to work with. Give them a call just to check the price difference
Chipmakers generally recommend an exhaust upgrade so they don't have liability if your car gets damamged, but I know many people who have been running chipped cars for some time with no problems (and no aftermarket exhaust). Better safe than sorry though. Stainless steel will last forever, and it'll sound a little bit nicer.

Re: Which exhaust for me? (chopper)

That's true, however I have noticed in other cars that chipping and exhaust to lend some credibility to performance over just chipping. My wife's Jetta GLX for instance...it has a fairly good performance exhaust stock, so I just chipped it, works great, no issues.
I am going to do it, it's a matter of gathering the research info, talking to you guys, and making a decision when a bonus check shows up.
thanks again

Speaking of exhaust, would there be any exhaust systems on the market that actually stay in touch with the boxy theme on the 850? A long time ago I saw a really modded yellow 850 T-5R, and it basically had a bigger exhaust pipe on it that was chromed and took up all the space back there in that slot cut out for the exhaust, get what I'm sayin'?

Re: Which exhaust for me? (NoahK24)

I'll throw in my .02 cents...or was that $2000? Anyway, I went with the Eurosport Tuning cat-back which I have been extremely pleased with the sound and performance results. Can't say enough about how good Frank is to work with. The exhaust is awesome....I wanted the high-perf sound but not hot-rod loud. The round tip was not my preference so I switched it out for a dual TME from IPD and am very happy with the results.
Also, just Fedex'd my ECU to Wetterauer for the upgrade. Can't wait until Friday mornin'.
