My 99 V70 XC has the SC816 stock radio/cassette/single CD player. I'm upgrading to a double DIN Pioneer head unit. The problem is the old unit has 2 antenna leads, one with a slightly smaller plug than the other. I assume one is for the antenna on one side of the rear hatch glass and the other comes from the passenger side in-glass antenna. If I only use one, won't my reception suffer? Is there an adapter to combine the two? Or can I cut, splice and solder the two together? I'm surprised not to see any posts on this. THANKS for the help!

Re: Which antenna lead to use in new radio-can I combine the 2 exisiting ones? (1steven)

Answered at V70R.com, Just plug in the big one that fits and your done.
To add to my other reply, Be Sure to connect the power antenna lead!
When you splice up the wiring adapter, that one will be critical to making the
antenna amplifier work. Other than that? No Big. Just leave the smaller connector alone. http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

GOT IT FIXED!! Well I solved the poor radio reception problem. Turns out that I did not connect what I thought was the blue wire with white stripe to the solid blue wire on the harness. I assumed that was for the power antenna (to make it go up and down) and since I didn't have one, I didn't need to connect thtose wires together. Once I did, the reception improved as if a switch was thrown. Problem solved. Hope this helps others. By the way, I'm still going to see if reception improves further by getting a y cable and connecting both antenna leads into one.
