Hi all,

I notice several of you folks are from the Baltimore/DC area. I live just north of Baltimore and am searching for my first 245--first choice being a Turbo, second choice being a nice normally-aspirated example...gotta be a wagon and gotta be a manual transmission. I'm wondering if you have any suggestions on where to look. Autotrader.com and cars.com, along with iPD's classifieds site, have been my main areas thus far.

I was hoping to check out the Volvo contingent at Carlisle as I intended to be there with my '75 BMW 2002...but a prior commitment out on the eastern shore will prevent me from attending...

Thanks folks!

Tim

Any suggestions will be appreciated!

Hi Tim, when we were searching for ours, we found several good sources. The Washington Post is a good place to start. I saw a 245 Turbo in there for $500 two weeks ago.

Your local paper is another good place to start. If you want a turbo, you'll get your better deals if you find someone who doesn't appreciate it for what it is (not likely online). You'll find more selection online, as we did, but local traditional outlets proved very valuable to us.

We found our 240 after looking in a PA publication called the Auto Locator, that can be found in pretty much any Eastern PA convenience store. Ours was found in a listing for an indy Volvo shop in York, PA. It was worth the drive.

Tim,

Call Herb Gordon Volvo in Silver Spring. Ask to speak to Volvo mechanic named Ned. He has a 245 Turbo he has been trying to sell for a while. I have seen it and it looked better than most others I have seen for sale. Don't remember what kind of transmission but you can always swap later.
