I am in the process of connecting my Alpine Z1 system to the photocell in order to dim auto dim the display and before I started this and a couple other projects, I wanted to build my intel before cracking open the dash. Anyone aware of the photocell location or other sources that would be connected to the auto dim feature in the vicinity of the stereo. I heard many vehicles have lights around the cigarette lighter, but the XC90 doesn't have a light around it.

Thanks,
Flip

I was able to easily pop this up and out, and three wires ran to the sensor. Black, Grey, and Green. I would bet money, Green is ground. Which of the other two wires do you think provides voltage when hit by sunlight. I will probably just make a stab and bare some wire to check using a volt meter, but wanted to start with the wire of the best choice.

IIRC - black is ground, green is 12v, & grey is signal - I'm not positive about green & grey though. ~90% of the time, black is ground though.
