I emailed that guy. It took him 3 weeks to get back to me. Then I emailed him again and it took two weeks for a response. If I did buy it and had any problems I am sure I would be SOL.

Re: Where is the best place to get an OEM Nav sytem for my R.??? (FastWgn)

Honestly, guys, I would NOT get the factory Nav as an aftermarket option.
I have said this before....it's nice, but it's not that good. I don't like it is much as the Nav in my '02 pathfinder. Looking at the display when I drive my wife's car is dissapointing...the Pathfinder has a much clearer display (from a color and drawing perspective) and the birds eye view can't be beat. It shows parks, malls, etc. as outlined color areas. The Volvo nav isn't nearly as informative. It basically just shows roads. My Volvo nav is better because of the steering wheel controls and it is DVD based, rather than CD like my older Nissan.
It's about $4k to install the Volvo nav aftermarket including the unit. Not worth it.
I would rather get one of those new double-DIN sized LCD screen units and put in a nice Kenwood, Pioneer, etc. type of nav system. They are far superior to the Volvo factory Nav. as far as nav features go. Plus, you'd then have an input for your MP3 player.
If you didn't want to remove your HU, and you didnt' want a flip-out or double din screen, I'd try to find a way to incorporate the stock "rising screen" mechanism with an aftermarket Nav control unit...those things are all sold separately anyway. Then all you would be losing would be the steering wheel controls. I bet you'd still do it for under the $4k volvo charges to install aftermarket.
Boosted, what do you think? This is up your alley.
Otherwise, go portable for $1k or so and save a lot of $$$.

The only thing I do not like about the aftermaket Nav's is the fact that they get plugged into the lighter. Can one hardwire a unit? Also I would hate taking the thing down every time I go somewhere. Thanks for the info. I would like to keep the install clean (no wires and somewhere I do not have to take it down when arriving at my destination.

If you are worried about theft etc... you can still hardwire your unit....just put some staycons (butt end connectors IDK what they're called) and just DC it whenever you need to take it out it wouldnt be that hard....all your wires can be hidden VERY easily (at least on an s80 I have roughly 60 aftermarket wires running in my car)
Also, the beauty of some of the newer all-in-one systems is that they have rechargeable battery power (4-8 hours), so you don't need to run from the cigarette lighter all the time.

This would be some tricky stuff...the "R" int is so so nice to begin with....
I don't see how any of these possible mounting apps would work...... (By work I mean cosmetically)

Even this......(although this might be your best bet)
