When I arrived home a saw two big boxes waiting for me. Fortunately I got home before my wife.
Does anyone know if 225/45 17s will the S70 correctly? These are the size tires that come on the C70s with these rims.

Chris
'99 S70 GLT

Lookin good there - Well I got 18''s on my S70 and i got 225/40's. This is the largest iv seen anyone around here go one this car. Well even after all calculations I have noticed that the wheels are still rubbing on the inner-wheel-well when turned full way. Good-Luck!

thanks. My the dealer recommended a 225/45 17 Mich. Pilot XGT V4 or Z4. The C70 on their showroom had the P6000s on it.
I want a tire that will be good in the rain and light snow...who knows what we'll get around D.C.
Since they are not 18's, the 225/45/17's shouldn't be a problem for the S70.
VolvoTuning Picture

-Drew

For tires iv heard only the best about Potenza'a... Helped 3 of my buds get em on all four and they grip well in all conditions (not sure about snow though, doesnt snow much in L.A.) I have Pirelli P7000 and they are incredible tires in normal conditions... but the slightest hint of water, and they will just sit there and spin. So definately no P7000's in the D.C. area.

I'm a very happy owner of 1.75 set of S-02 at 225/40/18. I could not be happier until they finally come out the ultimate S-03.
I've driven S-02 in the snow once...I'll say about 1~2 inch kinda snow. Not the greatest way to test out the tires, but they sure stood up to the condition pretty well for a set of Max Perf. tires.
I drove my cousin's 850 with 17 inch Volans and AVS Sport...still can't beat the S-02 at all. I used to have those MXX3 by Michelin on the factory 17s, IMHO....the AVS Sport was still better than the MXX3 without a doubt.
It all depends on how much money you are willing to fork out for a set of tires. Honestly, if you are not going to race your Volvo every weekend and do Intial D (which is not possible on an auto FWD, time for manual tranny conversion ) on every corner on the street, you'd be fine with any reasonable performance tires.
I just like Bridgestone...

[This message has been edited by The_one_n_only (edited 10-26-2001).]

I wish that S70 was sitting in my driveway, love the silver. Our S70 is Nautic blue/grey leather. I went with Michelins, we'll see how they go. I wanted something that could handle some of the weather around D.C. ....enough to at least get us home if it starts to snow.
hopefully I'll get the tires mounted Monday. My wife gets home after dark so I should be good until at least the weekend.

I tried to put 225/16/50 on the stock s70 t5 1998 rims, and they rubbed in the rear while going over bumps. Was this because of the 16 inch wheels, or because the sidewall was too large or what? I ended up just putting 205's back on it, because cosco didn't have any 215's at the time, and I just wanted some tires on the car.
Scott
1998 s70 t5m
1970 1800e
