Okay, I'm kinda winging this... I just picked up a set of 16-inch steel wheels for the S60/V70/S80. In a conversation with Scott Hart at IPD, he mentioned that those wheels for the new cars are 48mm offset. The 240 is 20mm. So I picked up a set of 25mm (as big as H&R makes). The plan is to have them on the car for the philly get together. Worst case scenario is that they'll be in the trunk of the car at the philly gtg.
Seriously though, the wheels are here. I'll be refinishing them silver this weekend. The tires should arrive on Mon or Tues and the spacers hopefully by the end of next week. We shall see.

You should have bought yourself a set of 18 inch Volks instead.
Can't wait to see those wheels on your car next weekend.

I have to ask since you didn't mention it...do you have longer wheel studs to go with those spacers? If they are adapters, then nevermind, but the 240 studs are just the right length to fit the lugnut and nothing more.
edit: BTW, 25mm will work fine if you had any doubts about it. What size and brand/model tire are you going to use?

Re: Wheel Upgrade for my 245 (ACD)

The tires are 205/55HR-16 Continental ContiTouring. They should be here Mon or Tues. I've painted the wheels, and they look great. I fitted one with the old chrome center caps I picked up at Carlisle. They fit and they look great (hard to see, but center caps on car in pic below).

As far as the spacers/studs, I'm not sure. I got the spacers from a very cool H&R distributor who advertises on VWvortex. They are sending me some fasteners, but what exactly I'll be getting I don't know. I'll try my best to get them on the car, we'll see...
As far as pics go, I'll be featuring this as a project car article, and will probably run it VERY shortly once it's on. I'll tell you, now painted silver and with the old center caps (red centers with chrome V), they look VERY cool.
No slam on the Volks , but I'm digging the "Euro" look of the steelies that's a big design theme in the VW aftermarket.

I'm running my 245 around without the wheel covers. I resrayed the steelies and they look great. Gives the car that humble look.
I also agree that the A2 Golf and Jetta look their best with that nice set of steel wheels with the holes punched out.

That was my thought exactly. I've seen a couple of VWs with 15" Corrado steelies and they look great. I know there are the 15" steelies from the 740, but I figured I'd go one step further. I'll let you guys know if I have any probs with that spacer setup, and I'll definitely post pics.

Well, my tires arrived, but the spacers are on backorder. Darn it all. I'll still probably have the tires mounted this week and bring them along. I was thinking of asking Rob if I could borrow one of his wheel adapter sets, but I'm not sure it'd work with these 48mm offset wheels anyway.
