I had my wheels refinished by a nationally franchised company about 10 months ago. One of them has developed a problem. Any one else had a refinish job and experienced anything like that shown in the pics?
It appears that the refinish paint bond to the old paint failed. The old paint is still solidly attached to the wheel surface.
Maybe should have posted in another forum, but I like you guys.
The job did come with a 1 year warranty and I have an inquiry in with the company.

Re: FV-QR (tuddy)

If you have a 1 Yr warranty have them redo it. If the others start the same peeling after the warranty they would probably redo them. Especially if you are giving them a heads up on it and they care about their business.
Its definitely not a scuff mark or something you have done do it.

No reply yet from the company. Maybe today. Here is the problem with me refinishing one. I'd never get the paint to match. The original problem was that my local tire shop marred the finish (no damage to wheel) and bought me a refiniished one out of California. The paint was only a close match. Looked okay in the shade but not in bright sunlight. After that, the Volvo dealer scratched the finish on one and they ordered a repainted one. It did not match either. So they gave me a credit for the damage and I had them all refinished. Dealer service manager said perhaps they did not match because they were five years old and painted had aged. So I had them all refinished and not only am I painting challenged, I'd bet they will all eventually peel.

Re: (Hi Alt R)

Discount Tire scratched up one of my rims and had it refinished. It came back in chrome I told them that wasn't going to fly, so they found another peg at a Discount Tire in Ohio, and had that one refinished for me (I wasn't going to give them back the chrome peg, I had already been running on the spare for a week). That one came back the right color, but 6 months later suffered from the same defect yours has - and yes, it will peel. Good news is I got a free peg out of the deal - they let me keep the chrome one.

Company called and they want to visually inspect. Another trip to Fort Collins and a requisite add on stop at Wilbur's Wines and Spirits Store. Got to take something positive out of every experience!
