Tried to do a search for this info in the forum, but came up empty -

what's the torque spec for wheels? I'm bringing them to my local service station to have the winter wheels rotated off to summer wheels, and want to give them the recommended torque.

Thanks for your help

Re: wheel lug nut torque (wgp)

I checked the owners manual the other day and I think it is 102 ft lb.

Damn, this is new info to me and I am glad it was asked. 102 is a lot more than the 80 that you torque Hondas at.

102 is a lot more torque than most Honda engines have.

I just rotated my tires last weekend.
There is no way you can break loose 102 ftlbs with that short little lug wrench they give you. God forbid I actually get a flat tire.

don't be too sure

it just may end up giving you some sore muscles by the time you get finished!

just go out to lowes/home depot and buy a 24" piece of 3/4" pipe to keep with the lug wrench, and use it as a breaking bar. sometimes you have to be creative

Or carry a portable compressor with impact wrench in the trunk.

Re: (autoduel)

I said the same thing two weeks ago after changing my brakes.

I don't know what not so nice guy at Volvo of Danbury torqued my wheels bolts on, but I think the impact wrench he used was set to torsional failure test mode.

It took a 4 foot breaker bar to loosen the bolts and it BENT the stock lug wrench.

I told my wife if she gets a flat, just call Volvo care, don't even bother trying herself.
