Need to secure a subwoofer in the trunk, so I'll run a couple self tapping screws to do so. But I need to know what is under the forward portion of the trunk, closest to the rear seats. I know there are some wires and what not (and can locate that by pulling up the carpet), but I need to know what is below that.
So whats on the underside of the car in that area? And if there IS something, will I be able to run some shorter screws WITHOUT puncturing/severing it?
Thanks!
Rue

What year is your R? There's the gas tank, some wring harnesses, things like that. You'd be best to check above and below before securing any screws. If it is near the gas tank, I'd consider some heavy duty double stick tape or some sort of other solution. You could attach to the backs of the seats or the wheel wells.

Re: (adykes)

You could just use heavy duty velcro tape from Home Depot, it will not move at all plus you won't have any permanent holes in the trunk.

Re: Whats under the trunk? (Rues R)

Epoxy or super glue a sheet / sheets of hook backing to the bottom (Velcro) of the sub box and that sucker won't move! If you need any further guidance let me know. Screws in the trunk area are bad Mmkay Unless you really know what you are doing don't go threading some screws through the carpet if you hit some wiring it will ruin your day!

I pull it up tight against the back seat, just thread it through whatever holes I can find in the sheetmetal.

One locking cargo strap through one of the cargo hooks in the back, worked marvelously. Even in the harder maneuvers a 12" sub stayed put.
