Sorry if this has been revisited before, but I haven't seen anything about it...
What's this for?

This plug is on the driver's side engine bay, right behind the headlight against the fender. It looks like there is a sort of wire chase for whatever plugs into it running back along the fender towards the fuse box. I know I must be dumb, but it's really bugging me!

It's for the AGFS (Angle Gear Failure Suppressor). When optioned correctly, an electronic device cushions the angle gear from shocks due to using the automobile, allowing said angle gear to survive for up to 3000 miles or 7 days, whichever comes first.

I've noticed the same plug hanging loose in my engine bay and have been wracking my brain trying to figure out what its for. I wasn't sure if I had left something unplugged after my FMIC install or not. Everything seemed to be running fine, but thought it was really odd to have a random plug, unplugged.

I've seen that before and just remembered it. Have many people here done this "mod"?

+1 as the originator of the mod, I recall two on V70R.com have done it. Mine is a bit moot since I now have Euro lamps.

Who in SS has done this? Looks like a great idea. Do the DRL still work? Could this be taken to a dealership and they be able to do it?

I remember it taking about an hour to do, no need to take your car to the dealer.
may be so ...
when I put Euro lights on a '98 VR, it too had an "unused" connector just like this:

... and it fit perfectly into the citi lights connector on the Euro headlamps

Something to make the above 55W Hellas removeable.
All other aux. lighting options will either compromise cooling or be too low to be effective (replacing fog light or modifying foglight grill). Mounting a set of driving lights down beside the foglights seemed to be an optiion but I think winter gravel will make short work of the lights.
