My wife has decided to sell her 240DL. She bought it new in 1984. She has always taken great care of the car, kept in the garage, professionally maintained. It is maroon, repainted five years ago with "lifetime" paint.

$1000-$2500, maybe less, maybe more. Mileage, rust, interior, exterior, recent work, needed work, auto or manual, etc. all affect the price, so it's hard to say without seeing the car. Look around through the classified sections and see if you can find similar cars for comparison ( www.ipdusa.com , www.brickboard.com , www.turbobricks.org , ebay, www.autotrader.com , the local papers, etc). Any non-turbo 240 from around '82-'86 should be comparable for condition and mileage, but price might vary a little. Ebay prices tend to be on the low side. A similar 240 Turbo would be worth a good bit more, so don't even look at those for price comparison.
Good luck.
