My Silver 2000 V70R will be hitting 90K in a couple of weeks or so (now 89,600).
Everything's already been done within the past 6K miles, T-belt, plugs, Seafoam, fluids, filters, brake flush, tranny flushes and drain and fills, etc.
It runs and drives 110%.
I finally got around to fixing the two minor cosmetic flaws it had, (repainted the rear bumper and one rocker panel. The car looks and runs like it has 1/4 the miles but still, it's going to hit 90K!
Should I keep it, (now fairly irreplacable in this condition except for the member who found one with 30k miles!), sell it to someone who wants one of the best V70R's on the planet for a fair and reasonable (ie: HIGH price as it really IS one of the best in the world) or wait until it hits 100K and I become totally depressed?

I feel your pain.... But if you like the car they way it drives an all then keep it... however I would probably sell as I do not like being with the same car for too long.
I've tried selling mine without success... so I made the decision to make it even nicer, so it is like a different car
I did fix the Steering Rack, and you were right it drives even better… I cannot wait for the spacer to come it so I can put my summer tires on
I think you should try selling for whatever price you want, and if it does not sell keep it.
Tuff decision though!!! Good Luck!!
Well, you still have the black, so if you sell it you've still got a nice Gen 1.
You're right at that tipping point, 100K is only a psychological milestone but it seems to be a big one for people looking to buy, even if the car is an outstanding one. I know my CU won't loan on anything over 100K. And this market right now, ugh... (although I passed on an admittedly beautiful '99 with 140K for my daughter, that eventually sold for $6400 !!!) Blew me away but you just have to find the one right buyer, I guess.
I think I would just keep driving it and keep looking for that unicorn, the super-low-mile one. Every time I'm certain there can't be any more left, one seems to pop up. You have the connections to find it.
Or a Cassis...

Re: What to do, decisions, desisions..... (JRL)

I'd keep it if I were you. It's worth more as a solid dependable, good performing and good looking car than what the resale value is worth.
V70r's are hard to come by as it is and to already have one you trust and are familiar with and have no wierd mechanical issues with is a very good thing...
That being said, both of our S70 T5's were bought with a little over 90K on them and they didn't have their stage 0's done yet so that was more $$ out of our pockets, the wife's is a 99 so we had to have the ETM fix done (that was before the lawsuit covered it) etc... etc..
Both of ours have just passed 120k and it's more or less past the point of no return. Her's is totally paid off and with any luck, mine will be by the end of the year or shortly there after and there are few things as satisfying as sending off that final car payment.
Although yours is still probably worth something, IMO, the piece of mind I mentioned it giving you earlier in my post outweighs the selling benefits IMO.
Unless you can trade it for a 98 V70R 5 speed

I sure hope you sent Volvo your receipts for the ETM, every nickel you spent is reimbursed

I didn't spend anything. This was when I was engaged to the wife and her dad was still making the payments and that was one of them I believe. He got re-imbursed for it I think but we got a letter last weekend saying their records indicate it hasn't been done yet.

Verrrrry nice! Love targa's the best.
Yeah, they all look better with black, except maybe the dark ones like a Midnight Blue. Many of the later 3.2's and beyond seemed to be ordered with lighter interiors (Dove Grey, Linen), and a lot of guys just hate those, I'm not sure why. I think they look good with a lot of colors. But I digress...
Still think you should just keep the silver the way it is and look for that ultra-low-mile one out there somewhere. Keep it as like a museum piece.

Re: What to do, decisions, desisions..... (Bearclaw)

Yuck.
Bad color combination, bad cars, (964's in general), unloved and undesirable.
That sure looks like Linen to me, (that one should have a black interior).
I had a '90 cabliolet, paint to sample, (MBZ #900 surf blue which is like a medium to darker royal blue) with tan leather. It was an AWD (C4). I did not like that car at all and drove very weird compared to all my other 911's.
I know Tim (Holt) very well, probably for over 25 years now. He sold my Speed yellow 993 Cab for me (the last Porsche I owned after 30 odd years of owning nearly every model ever built).
