Performance as in power or handling? for power custom exhaust and ecu tune will do you good. and for handling i'd go with front and rear sway bars and lowering springs.

I second that, if you want to be cheap than a tune and a custom 2 1/2" to 3" exhaust is the way to go, or even an intake from EST, or Simota, and an exhaust would be a good start.

Adjust your waste gate thimble first. Its free and you can feel the difference.
http://forums.swedespeed.com/z...age=1

At age 17 I suggest upgrading driving skills first learn how to use the power you've got before adding more

I am not saying all 17yr olds can't handle an R, I just know that I couldn't at 17.

My '94 850T was more powerful than a Civic, not a Porsche, safe, reliable, and charismatic. It was a great starter car... maybe 10+ years later the R is its equivalent, I don't know. Some things are relative.
In any case, I definitely do not think I would appreciate my R as much now had I owned one as my first automobile. Nor do I think it would have lasted me 8 years.

Really stupid question: how the heck would I tell that I've tightened the bushings to 36 ft-lbs if I'm just using simple hand tools?
The instructions for that upgrade look simple enough, but I am a klutz with this stuff and I'm convinced I'd find a way to screw it up. So any advice would be appreciated.
