Re: What happened to...? (Kallvin22)

He supposedly traded his car in or something and got an Audi. I really was interested in seeing if he could pull it off, but then he got raped for his methods and hasn't been seen much since. He talked the talk but in the end didn't walk the walk, unfortunately.

Re: (crossie)

I was quoted $1100 for a complete wrap on my car, one color. So if you were just doing the top parts (which I have been thinking about doing as well, seems to be a very common theme for our cars) it should only be $400-500ish. I say do it! For my car I have some imperfections on all panels of my car that I would rather put the money towards an actual paint job that would get rid of the small chips and scratches. I have a guy who will do my car as a side job for a very reasonable price and he does some VERY nice work so when I finally have some extra spending money I will do that.

Nope, not unless you have two usernames, the guy I was referring to was NME95K or something like that. I was genuinely interested in seeing the results, and unlike a lot of the people posting on his thread I was supportive and not negative about his methods.

Re: (crossie)

Is that Prelude missing it's windshield?!
Applying vinyl isn't really that hard. I have everything I would need to do it on my car in a flat black, but have been putting it off due to lack of time and looking into actual paint colors I'd want. I have pretty much settled on one but can't discuss it yet, lol.
Vinyl to the hood would be super easy, top of the car tougher, and the trunk lid would suck around the license place area...
EDIT:
Dannyman: no worries, just didn't want ya thinkin I was talking smack or anything.

Im not too certain about doing that much vinyl, could potentially have too many visable flaws and wont hold up like paint will. Plus you gotta figure for the cost honestly you could find a nice paint shop to prep and paint your roof, hood, and trunk for under 1k easy. Especially black which is a basic color to pain.

Re: (ForceFed Motorsports)

Yeah, it is tough for that size , but I've got enough experience with vinyl I think I could do it without too many problems, probably only mess up a few times and have to redo it. I have a guy at my school's auto paint shop who said he would do my hood, roof, and trunk lid for free, I just provide the paint and do the prep work. He just painted 100% of a classic tractor bright orange and it looks sick, and he does the paint for all the university vehicles so I know he has skills. That will probably be what I do for now, as the paint would only cost $250.

And you also have to remember vinyl can't go around every corner and every angle flawlessly.

Re: (Mach_T5)

the point of wrapping is, that it's not permanent and therefore removable (in case you sell the car later on...) - and if done right, you certainly can't tell if its painted or wrapped...
btw, all taxi cabs and policecars in germany are wrapped, mostly with silver cars underneath, because of the resell value.

If done right it will raise the value of the car to have it painted That custom looks adds at least 10% value to the car

Re: (chromecarz00)

I actually saw the car with the paint job and it looked good but supposedly he gave the car to his old man and had a company repaint it back to stock passion red so he could work on his audi which last time a saw it was on 19x9
