Tried to take off the wheel whose tire has a slow leak to examine things and discovered that the when the dealer put the wheels back on after service 2 months ago they torqued the bolts so high that my impact wrench wouldn't brake them free and I ended up breaking my 4-way lug wrench attempting to get the bolts out.
I then tried the lug wrench from the spare and that started to bend, so I gave up and went to the auto parts store down the street and bought a new wrench with a lifetime guarantee.
That finally did the trick, but jesus what if you needed to put the spare on in an emergency, you'd just be screwed.
I'm considering calling the dealer tomorrow to voice my concern/complaint that they should be torquing the bolts properly and not just zipping them on at full blast with the air gun and calling it good.

When I take my cars in for service I insist and have them put it in writing on the service ticket not to use an impact wrench on the wheels.

Last weekend I finally got around to doing some work on my MY12 XC70 T6.

Oil/filter change
Air filter change
Cabin filter change
Spark plugs
New wipers
Checked all fluids, etc.
Checked tire pressures
Removed the bike rack for the year
Full detail and 6 month ceramic coating for the Winter

I remember when I got my first XC70, thinking how difficult this car would be to work on and how I'll have to just take it to the dealership for maintenance. Aside from the oil filter, this is one of the easiest cars I've owned to service. This was a little early for the 60k service (right at 57k), but glad to get it done while the weather was decent in MI still.

I also did the oil/filters/wipers for the MY18 XC90 which was equally as easy to work on. Love my Volvos!

Installed my Ixions with the Sailun tires to test, they ride better than my Cratuses with the Michelins which all but confirms that my OEM Cratus wheels are nothing more than scrap at this point. All 4 of them have been fixed and re-rounded but take an obscene amount of weight to balance out still. Going to move my Michelins to the Ixions for the time being before I can find a good set of 19" wheels I like.

sigh
Just gotta remember, its only money

Well installed the Michelins on the Ixion wheels and it was about the same if not worse than the Sailuns on there with the vibrations around 65-70.

Bought these S90 wheels off marketplace and they fit really well. No TPMS sensors in them though so turned off TPMS in the car with P3tool. They seem to ride better, still not as smooth at speed as I was hoping so maybe these also need a rebalance. I am also very hesitant about running Pirellis, my experience with them has never been great. Might need to install some Michelins on them to truly know.

Has anyone had any issues with vibration after removing and re-installing an axle? I had to replace the boot on the passenger side and it seems after is when I started noticing the vibrations around 70. I had it done at my shop and was part of the install / removal process so I know the work was done correctly. I dont know if maybe I should have marked the notches inside the axle when it was separated (like the old RWD driveshafts) or if the grease hasnt fully disapated inside the joint and is causing an inbalance? It just very annoying to have these vibrations at speed, its what lead me to eventually selling my S60....

It wasn't today (raining at the moment) but in the past week or so I replaced the PCV oil trap to deal with a P0171 code (thanks to this forum!) and I test fit the Fifteen52 Metrix MX wheels I'm planning to install.

Swapping rims to drop from 18" to 17" wheels, primarily. But these also have a different backspacing that will push the wheels out a little.

Apparently the diaphragm in the pcv oil trap can become clogged/nonfunctional, messing up crankcase venting and causing the lean condition code. Everything I read pointed to this as one of the first things to do, not very expensive, and relatively simple to swap. I had no noticeable driveability issues associated with it. After the replacement, the code cleared itself after about 3-4 days of driving. It probably would have cleared sooner, but a garage took it upon themselves to clear the codes and reset the monitors before I started troubleshooting myself, so I had to wait for the O2 monitor to become ready again.

Got some new accessories in the mail today, got them from Riley Volvo parts for the Black Friday deals
-OEM 2nd row sunshade (got a little one who would appreciate not having sun in her eyes)
  • I got the neck support cushion offered on SPA cars, I figured what the heck might as well give it a shot. Definitely an easy install lol. Interested to see/hear what the wifey thinks on our next family trip
  • splurged on a Polestar shift knob that I'm excited to install for myself. I already like how it feels compared to a stock P3 knob.

She's going to love it. As a wifey who has used one in (former) husbands car, its a most appreciated addition.

Thanks, actually found your guide due to P.rico's thread on this haha but appreciate you sending this my way!
I'm hoping to install this myself this weekend.

I didn't bother getting the blue stitching boot as it wouldn't match the stitching on the rest of the car but it looks good!

Trickiest part is routing and plugging in the backlight connection!

It's a really nice improvement.

I got back yesterday from my 2000mi holiday road trip. I keep thinking that I should be way past my prime for 15 hour, thousand mile days but I remarkably didn't have an issue. This thing remains a great vehicle for that type of driving. It ran flawlessly and crossed 110k mi on the way back. I just came in from a quick post-flight and found zero oil or coolant consumed. Time for an oil change and a bath.

So I finally got my VIDA working again, my D5 had the "Engine system service required" message on the dash ever since resetting the engine oil change warning without VIDA. There were no fault codes showing on my code reader and no active codes in VIDA either. Turned out that I had to reset all of the logged codes in the CEM. Also swapped out the halogen low beam bulbs for LED bulbs. Wife is happy again!
