Able to pick up on eBay OEM roof bars and the metal luggage gate from a 2008 XC70 that had it. Pretty excited! I'm really interested in adding lots of useful interior bits. Next thing I would want to add is the rear 12v socket.

Future retrofit install is a heated steering wheel, over the next few months will be scouring for a new wheel plus the necessary components. Was also able to get the clock spring from Erie Volvo. I still will need the actual new steering wheel, heating module and hopefully take it to dealer for final Vida install.

You can activate it with P3Tool or VDASH, no need for a dealer. Did they make the 4 spoke wheels heated, or is it like the paddles where it was only for the 3 spoke. Id love to add a heated wheel to my V70 but I dont think any of the pre-sensus cars ever got it as an option.

Thanks for the heads up on that tool, I haven't messed with those yet. I'm hesitant to do all of this myself but it's worth looking into for sure.

As far as I know, only 2014+ cars came with a heated steering wheel as part of the climate package. They were only for the 3 spoke wheel, to my knowledge.

I'm trying to find wheels off Erie that specifically came off a donor car with said climate package. I know later P3 steering wheels are swappable, it's all about finding one that supports the heating function.

Did my front passenger side axle boot last night at my old shop. It was shooting grease all over, thankfully caught it last week when I did the oil change so no risk of axle damage.

Did see that my end links were properly busted, any reccomendations over OEM? Ill just get the Lemforders or Meyle from FCP but wanted to see if there were any nicer upgraded ones out there for the fronts.

The instructions are a bit rubbish. You'll know when it's right.
Was able to get it secured in this morning. Unfortunately looks like I'll have to replace the gas shocks for it which seems commonplace for these gates.

Regardless I do like it for its looks and functionality. I got the tan one used off eBay, but I'm considering spray painting ir black to match my interior.

Overall satisfied with my purchase and how it came out but more to come!

The link I used that greatly helped me:

How have they held up? I cant imagine I will go through a whole set of sway bars in my time of owning this car so is it worth the extra $100 over an OEM set?
I don’t really drive enough to speak to durability. I only put 2108 miles on my winter setup in six months (and this is our only car). I’ve probably put a bit more on my summer setup because work demands caused me to make an extra round trip to CLE (dropped the fam off with the in-laws one weekend and returned to collect the the next), but I’ve still probably got in the ballpark of 5k miles on my suspension refresh in over a year.

luluxing 4Pcs 304 Stainless Steel C Clamp Tiger Clamp Woodworking Clamp Heavy Duty C-clamp With Wide Jaw Openings https://a.co/d/gPw6qZ0

So I successfully installed my steel protective grille as instructed but when I looked at videos of this, you're supposed to be able to fold it up and have it stay there. Mine doesn't that, and it folds back down, I suspect because of failed gas shocks. Rather than buying replacement gas shocks at $45 bucks each side to fix the worn shocks, I'm thinking about buying one of these clamps to hold it into place.

This would require me drilling into the roofliner in the back to hold it into place. Any recommendations? Anyone done anything like this before?

It seems like the gas shocks on these fail often so this could be a cheap long term solution but I'm hesitant to drill anything in that area. Obviously don't want to drill into the roof itself.

Let me know your thoughts.

Try just one new shock. Might be enough.

Thread bump- found some goodies off good old eBay the past couple weeks:
  • spare heated steering wheel button
  • heated steering wheel and clock spring together (much cheaper than buying each separately)
  • Sun visors with Homelink

All sourced from Erie Vovo!

Picking up some cargo goodies from Facebook marketplace this next couple months, will post pics when I have. My build is coming together slowly but surely. I'd like to have this new steering wheel installed by end of year.

Got a whole list of upgrades come 2023:
  • R design 336mm brake upgrade
  • new shocks/struts
  • Rear sway bar (can't decide between Elevate vs IPD)
  • Trailer hitch and spare tire carrier
  • Android Auto/car play plus backup camera installation

More to come!

OEM cargo net thing installed, got it off a guy locally that rolled his XC70 (yikes!) its pretty sweet, not sure what I will use it for but the more OEM accessories I can scoop now the better.

Still on the lookout for the load liner and some more of the tie-down style netting.

I swapped in a new set of rear shock absorbers on the XC70 today, seriously one of the easiest shock swaps ever!

Not today but yesterday. I got round to changing the pre cat Lambda sensor on the T6. Air box out. Battery out. Battery tray out. Hard to access right behind the engine. I managed to manoeuvre a set of extension pieces, with wobble ends, and a U/J, to reach from the top. A 22mm sensor socket and the impact gun did the rest. The hardest part of the whole thing was removing the battery tray, where the 4 studs were corroded solid! Loosening the air pipe behind the engine helps too, for extension bar access. Anyway, let's hope it solves the MIL permanently. New cat otherwise 😲😲😲

Started getting random vibrations again around 65-75, time to rebalance the wheels myself at my old shop, I can never get tire shops to do it right. These damn 18" cratuses were bent when i got the car and I am starting to think I might be better off just getting new wheels that havent been repaired
