@agesym do you know if the "Ruffino 18x8s" will clean R bremos?
Those look sharp.
They might?? Always looked like there is alot of room between calipers and spoke because of the way they come into the centre. They are 18x8 with a 40 offset. Hub is 73.1 so you need to use rings anyways

Replaced the passenger side axle and wheel hub bearing while I was there cuz I could hear a slight noise. I diagnosed with a stethoscope.I nailed it right off the bat.The carrier bearing was worn out.Caught this one early as I know this car better than my own body. Put in a GNK axle and a *** bearing. from FCP of course It's fixed!.There was no core charge for the axle.I am positive the CV joints and boots are in good shape cuz I rebuilt the axle ~ 20 thousand miles ago and the noise was definitely the carrier bearing. So now, what do I do with this original axle? I can't find a definitive procedure to replace the carrier bearing. What do I do with this thing?

I believe the carrier bearing can be pressed off the axle and replaced. You would just have to track down the proper bearing.

Yeah, I don't remember is there's an edge that it sits on that will prevent it from coming off the long end of the axle, but I'm assuming that it'll come off that way. I don't think the cup on the outer end comes off.

I think I will take it to a guy I always bought axles from when I had my tranny shop.He can do it for sure. But before I do that, I would like to know what this original axle is worth if I invest any money in it. Of course it would be 100% after he goes through it.

There's a great local driveshaft around here who I had rebuild an S60R axle. They did a nice job, but it wasn't cheap.

Been having issues with an s60 i bought before christmas. 2001, 1 previous owner, full service book, 140k km. Got it for less than 1800 dollars, inspected and rolling.

Have done a mayor service, brakes, fluids, filters, oil, plugs, cam belt, tensioners, drive belt etc etc etc.
I am almost "done" with the car, in terms of stuff to fix.

Currently have:

Driver side door electronics to fix (probably a bad wire loom between the body and door)
and, I have to change the steering axle boots, noticed a hole in one of them and will change this on monday.

Other than that I'm loving the car, have driven it to finland and many long trips. Oh and I am also having some annoying issues with power steering leaks and coolant leaks. I saw that the return line to the coolant reservoir was bubbling after the car was off, so got a new tight clamp and perhaps that will stop any more coolant to spray out.

Also the power steering hoses are giving me headaches. The inlet hose to the steering pump refuses to stop leaking, and I fear that there are leaks that I have yet to find (steering rack). But it's pretty strange. I can drive the car in the city, and notice that it has dropped power steering fluid. But I can go on 4-5 longer drives and there are no drips at all. Maybe the power steering reservoir cap and inlet hose started leaking because of an overfilled reservoir and tight cornering in cities.

I really do hate working on cars on a budget.

Finally needed to do the brakes after almost 100k on the Brembo/Brembo Pad set up (since late 2019). Did the T5 305 upgrade with Brembo Rotors all around...EBC RedStuff pads all corners and now we just bed them and let the stopping begin. Also did outer Tie rods both sides...so last step will be an alignment and we're good to go.

Took advantage of the last nice day before the impending snowstorm to replace a VVT solenoid. Car seems to run smoother, but let's see if this actually keeps that pesky check engine light at bay.

Edit: No dice, code P2187 came back today.

I decided to drop the oil pan yesterday. What do you think? By the way there were no signs of any potential issues the car. The PCV was badly clogged.. glove test failed -- done it all including relevant hoses/ pipes too ( was completed in November 2022 ) See photos:

This little guy is aluminium/aluminum :( Any ideas where could it come from? Just to mention something as well mignt helps. 5 weeks ago my wife was calling me saying the car suddenly running rough/ no power at all. She drove home (from 3 streets away luckily) slowly. Engine was running 4 or 3 cylinders. Eningine off straight away, next day checked sparkplugs/ coil packs all of them. Put them back and first fire up end it was running smooth. Was fine :/ Since I put 5 new spark plugs and 5 new coil packs in it. Codes said cilynder1 and 3 misfire. Since it`s running fine but was needed a new Boost pressure sensor ( located in the plastic intake pipe just before the throttle body) got ggod boost (7psi Low pressure turbo)
I am cleaning it today and putting it back together. Report back how it went.
Have a nice day to you all :)

Took her up to the mountains (foothills really) for her 2nd snow day while this super rare Southern California winter blizzard is going on and in full effect. She did well and was in her element she's built for, unlike myself not being used to this, lol. 🌨 ☃ Most of the mountain areas and roads are closed during this storm as they expect up to 8 feet of snow in the higher 6000+ foot) elevations.

I love attaching my GoPro to my front load bar and doing time lapse video of my driving adventures which is what the above still shot is from.

As long as those bits that came from the oil pump pickup aren't solid pieces (they crumble in your fingers) I wouldn't worry. Looks like general sludge from a clogged up PCV. The metal piece is a little weird, but it's a good thing that it was down there and not caught in a bearing or something along those lines... then you would be in trouble.

Hi Again
Everything is back together and all of the seals are replaced. Cleaned as much as I could now as we need the car next week. new filter, new oil... oh by the way I put 0w-30 ACEA A5/B5 in the car. this is what the manual says. Hope it is the one I truly need. I took the sparkplugs out and checked the condition to try to judge if I run lean or rich. Also once I put the new oil in the engine, put it in 4th gear and I had my brother to help roll the front wheels at the same time forward thinking no sparkplugs in so no compression and easier. The point was to try to move the oil around in the engine a bit before starting the car. I cant confirm it worked at all but I put just under 6liters of oil in the car and it was at about 3/4 up on the dipstick. After that it started fine without any dry or loud taping sound. The oil pressure light went out immediately. :) So I call it a success so far. Here are a few photos
