Rather than 'parking pass clip', I prefer to use the name 'recipe holder' as seen in the 'Buy My Volvo' video on YouTube 😅

Ordered an EVAP hose set, TCV silicone vacuum hose kit, vacuum hose for the compressor bypass valve, gas cap seal, and 2 front turn signal bulbs.

Once that's all in, next will be stainless brake hoses, rear calipers (one won't bleed, might as well do both), fluid flush, and maybe end links (if that's what the rattle is). Oh, and washers for the anti-squeal exhaust hanger, because when I tore the last one off high centering the car, I bent the mounting points on the body- so now of course the drive shaft squeals against the exhaust pipe in the rain and snow.

Maybe we'll look at the windshield, sunroof, and used front Sport seats after that.

Can't believe I'm still doing this on a 252,000 mile car 😂

Because what’s out there is not as cool and is RIDICULOUSLY over priced. And… because you love it. 😁

Well we’ve got a 08 S60 down and it’s RIP. I don’t have all the pics from beginning to end but many of you know what I’ve gone thru with restoring this particular S60 from the ground up. From tb/Wp/PCV to windshield replacement….the WORKS.

This is the 3rd Volvo that I’ve “given” 2 nieces and a nephew and they ruined them all. My pre-purchase or “giveaway” inspections run DEEP! I say “giveaway” because none of them have ever paid me a dime that was promised and of course I had to maintain all of them for free🙄.

Well with particular one, he drove it for 4 yrs and didn’t do any maintenance. I did my best but he would only bring it when it stopped working ie CV shafts popped out.

Well tonight he called and said it was making a “rattling sound”. I got there and turns out he’d been using Dino oil and it was of course LOW! I crank it up and there’s a top end noise like the cam is broken or it sounds like rocks are in the top end.

He’d been driving it in Winter mode for months therefore lugging the motor and it’s dead. He said he didn’t notice it but I instantly saw the big W in the display when I crank it. All warning lights were on and there was no oil on the dipstick. I told him “the engine is gone. Drive it until it won’t go anymore because I’m done with you all.”

Ppl know how teeth grinding I am when I take care of my cars but apparently he didn’t care and now nor do I.

RIP to 2008 S60 Lux 305k. Not Tue cars fault, it’s all the owners doing. And I just bought him a set of tires for it smh.

this is why I hoard Volvos because I know Bo ones gna take care of them like I do.

Aww man, Freddy! I know the work, no, the HEART AND SOUL that you put into that car and fixing it when you told him you wouldn't anymore. Like he didn't notice how struggling and slow it was off the line? So crazy. I'll have to pour out a little 3309 for this P2... 😥

What a day and it's only the early afternoon, lol! The wife, her mom and our 17 month old son went up to Big Bear for the weekend to a family friend's cabin, or shanty they call it since it's only 1 bedroom. They went up yesterday late afternoon, it's about ~80 miles away up the the local mountains here or 2 hours no traffic. The wife called me at 6:30am this morning with an emergency, her mom wasn't feeling well and her BP went very high and she called an ambulance to take her to the ER. She'd needed me to come up so I could watch our son in case she had to stay with her mom there. I packed a small bag, and headed out. About 15 miles in, the car didn't feel right. Felt like a strange oscillation and sound I'd describe it, almost like a bad bearing. I pulled off the freeway to inspect the front tires and found this! 😱 🫣

I know that the tread was getting low, but holy carp! You can also see that the while shoulder isn't round, but depressed in! I'm lucky and shocked this didn't blow out on me on the freeway, and I had felt that wired feeling on my commute home yesterday also, but didn't think anything of it. Fortunately maybe in God's good grace, I had pulled off the freeway by chance into a shopping center that had an America's Tire Co there which is where I always get all of my tires from. 🙌 They had the same tires in the 235/45/17 size I need in stock! I didn't see it, but apparently the other front tire had the same issue. I was going to replace both anyways even if only 1 was bad. Needles to say I called to tell my wife about the issue and had to remedy it before I could continue. They had me all taken care of within about 30-35 minutes of my arrival. Called the wife back and they had observed and were discharging my MIL, so she didn't need me to come up after all. Her BP came down to accepting level and she was feeling a lot better. Before going home, I promptly stopped by the place I get my alignments done and had that taken care of. It was much needed from since when I had replaced my passenger side axle. 🤦‍♂️ The rep at the tire shop said the damage was from bad alignment (replacement certificates denied due to that) which seems strange to me considering the location of the separation and the tread shoulder isn't overly warn compared to the rest of it. Needless to say, the toe was way off on one side and needed adjusting anyways as the steering would pull to that side. Now everything feels nice and crisp!

Made the day interesting, that's for sure! A godsend really, I wouldn't have wanted that to play out how it did come Monday on my commute to work. And I would have had to tend to it then for sure! And I wouldn't have been able to get the alignment until at least next weekend if not another...

Replaced the expansion tank and Z hose yesterday. Had developed a leak and was toasty. Then did some wheel and tire shenanigans to get the car mobile. Two thors had developed leaks. Today got the tires (0525 :)) mounted on fresh Orpheus! Called the indy this morning and will drop it off later this week and while we're on vacation he can sort out some things for me. The a 4 wheel align and throw the new shoes on! I gotta dig out the set of 07 mirrors I have and get some caps.

I would like to upgrade my speakers in my 2004 S60 but nowadays you only can buy 4ohm ones. I want to keep the setting as it is with a pair in the door and in the hat shelf. Do i have to install extra wires to connect the hat shelf speakers separately only to avoid getting an impedance of 2ohms caused by parallel wiring?

Zero. Car may have been on a slight incline but not much, if any at all. I was surprised but like I said it's been sitting a lot.
She drove it locally to the store and all dry now. I'll drive it Friday to the indy.

I did an oil and filter change with <3000 miles. I just couldn't wait because I kept looking at the two 5qt bottles of Restore and Protect 5/30 I bought a month ago. I think I will change again in 2,000. Probably overkill but that's my anal approach to maintenance. Next up is the cabin filter when the pollen tapers off. I hate changing that thing!

I gotta change mine as well, especially after the fires here back in January and I commute almost daily to ground zero of that. Thankfully I've been running the Bosch HEPA (blue pleated) filter and it's great! Definitely filters more than any of the other filters I've used including active charcoal ones.

Thanks Matt! I already have a Mann cabin filter in hand for this time on the change. But I will definitely source out a Bosch filter for the next change. Maybe amazon has it so I can enter it into the saved for later tab. I don't think many DIY guys know how important this is. It doesn't just filter the air you breathe but also protects the evap coil from contaminates. I have read this before and believe it to be true. What are your thoughts on R&S oil?

Thank you bud, much appreciated.

@chefricky here's the link to the filter on Amazon... Currently $18.79 as I see it. For reference, it fits the "1 filter slot. I know our cars have been the "1 and "1.5 slot, but not sure if the IQAS equipped cars can use a "1 filter? I've used both sizes on mine (yup, I popped the tab over the "1.5 slot on mine) as it doesn't have IQAS... But this filter will cancel out diesel smoke from trucks, something previous filters I've used didn't do well. Same for skunk smell.

Oil change day today. Fortunately our brief 1 day 100°+ heatwave tapered off from Friday and it's in the mid 80's but with rare monsoonal clouds and higher than normal humidity. 🥵 But even that's tapering off fortunately... Chefricky, I gotta finish off my cases of Mobil 1 from Costco before I put in a fill of Valvoline R&R. 😜

Hey, I don’t want to hear it. I got to deal with salt over here. But keep up the good work. Also there is a 2005 V70 2.5T for sale in my area. I think when I put my new ETM in. I am going to see what is on the market and get a 03 or up.
