I thought someone like ViVa had plugs at one point. Maybe have to hunt around.
Should you hypothetically have holes in your front bumper for a license plate mount, how would you fill them? Hypothetically of course.

Plastic welder, this is what my auto body friend did to mine, he let it sit for a few days to let them sink (I guess this is normal) and then filled the holes again, you can't tell that it had holes drilled in the front bumper, I'm sure you could go to any auto body shop and they could do it for you.

Didn't do anything to our V70R today, other than admire it. I thought it looked good parked in the snow.

OK, not exactly R related, but Volvo related. I've been digitizing some old VHS tapes (family home videos, etc.). In going through the VHS tapes that are still sitting around the house (just in case there's some bit of family history on them) I've found some interesting items in all the stuff that was recorded.

For example: here's a Volvo 850 commercial from the holiday season around Christmas 1994/New Year's 94-95.

And another from the same timeframe, touting the first-in-the-industry side airbags from Volvo:

No fun.. No torque. The 13B-rew needs to be a lightweight body otherwise it's no fun, seriously. Love it, miss it but it's not perfect.
Agreed. You would need a 20b to make it fun. Little 13b two rotor just wouldn't be a good fit for the heft of an R to push around.

New rear shocks finally in. It was part of the maintenance I started last year, but only got the fronts done then, and have been too busy till today to actually do it. The right rear was completely toast! Looking forward to more predictable behavior from the ass ... 🙃

Put the V70R on the lift this morning to trace an oil leak that appeared recently (it was significant enough to leave a few drops in the garage overnight). Turned out that the oil drain plug needed to be tightened just a little more - it was weeping just the tiniest bit. I've used a torque wrench to tighten it to spec the last few oil changes, but maybe all those years of overtightening mean it needs a little more than spec, now. At least it wasn't something more involved!

Yup, I replace it every time. The recommended torque just didn't seem to do it this time. BTW, I just finished 600+ miles of driving over the weekend. No signs of leaking from sitting overnight, etc.

I’d get a new plug too. That means it’s just starting to be an issue. Cheap enough.

Atacama would be a dream...
I installed coilovers on Friday...did a little cleaning up on it...mounted some tires today.
After realizing the bead on the pegs was separating at the exposed wires on the tires, I stopped driving the car.
I miss it.

Rear rotors and pads.

Everything that could go wrong did.

My garage is small so had planned to do one side, then move the car and do other.

But then the pad would not go into the caliper.

Searching online if the pads are actually different, or somehow I have smaller than 109mm calipers.

Decide i'll do the other side to see if just this caliper is weird, or both.

Other caliper was welded onto the hub. Impact, Sprays, Cheater bars, etc finally got it off. Was waiting for the bolt to snap, and be left needing to buy a new bracket. Got lucky and eventually they came out without breaking.

Same issue with the pads going in.

In the end found a thread it's likely the little guides being packed full of crud. Either remove and thoroughly clean or grind down the edge of the pad slightly. Can take a guess the path I took.

Car drove fine, stopped fine, and didn't hear anything rubbing or scrapping. So finger's crossed I have new rear rotors and pads. Will do front's tomorrow.

So typical day in the life of owning an R.

I noticed a rattle at the back of the exhaust when I close a door. After giving the exhaust tips a nudge I could re-create the sound. I'll have to get under the car soon to see if the source is a heatshield or exhaust hanger.
