Big excitement I changed the coilpacks from the no-name to Bosch was getting an error on #3, made a world of difference to the car, seems like a 25% power increase
Nice! Great to hear. Are these Bosch coils the ones you used? Did you consider the Elevate ones at all? And what exact spark plugs did you go with? I'm tackling this job over the weekend..

I got the Bosch from Rockauto- and factory Volvo plugs- not a fan of Elevate at this time due to months waiting for answers on an order, nice to see that Bosch has a code on them to check their authenticity, I got an MAF from Amazon that was fake as all get out

My car had no badges when I got it so I decided to get some. I learned that while buying the original badges may be nice, used ones have the foam backing mostly worn out which makes them hard to adhere to the car. I didn't want to spring for true new OEM but in retrospect would have gone aftermarket. Anyway, with a little bit of mixed adhesive, since the 3M emblem adhesive didn't work without foam backing, I got them attached.

Picture has a magnetic level so ignore that.. Next up is the other emblems and a prancing moose.

On mine, I used 3M 03609 double sided tape to put back the "2.4i" badge after accidentally pulled the "i" out of it with a loose thread of a washing mitt. I just removed the old foam backing, put a new piece of double sided tape and it's been there for almost 2 years now.

If only I planned ahead.. haha. I used whatever waterproof adhesive I had handy and it's solid. Before I move on to the S40 AWD T5 and moose I'll pick up some of that double sided stuff. It's actually on the back of the moose since I bought that new.

Noticed power steering noise. Noted some bubbles in reservoir. Multi factorial leaks- reservoir hose dry rot at pump junction, slow leak in high pressure hose, o rings flat.

Replaced power steering hoses, reservoir with hose (original design). flush. All quiet now And no bubbles.

Installed the Powerflex insert for the passenger side engine mount: Ford Focus Mk2 / Volvo Upper Right Engine Mount Insert

Made a bigger difference in drivetrain slop than I was expecting tbh, especially for just doing the one side. I'll get the other side in some day, but I need to swap back to the older style mount first. Car already has the efocus mount.
Sure does, welcome to club. Get the other one too, and you won't regret it. I recommend the two piece insert for the trans mount as well, as opposed to the one piece. I had both and there is a slight difference in flex.

Installed new Bosch coils and spark plugs since I have no idea when the PO replaced them last. Noticed the torx bolts that hold down the plastic engine cover were terribly rusted so I replaced those before they disintegrated.

Did a Liqui Moly engine flush, new oil and filter, upgraded to a magnetic drain bolt, and added Liqui Moly Ceratec to the new oil. My S40 has about 180,000 miles on it and I figured I better really make sure the engine lasts long since I have replaced just about every major component by now.. The clutch, full suspension, timing belt, water pump, tires, rotors, brakes, entire cooling system, engine mounts, oil filter housing.. and that's just the mechanical. I spent probably 3x what the car is worth but I'm loving it. I alternate driving it with my 2024 M3 which is RWD. It's great to have a car that's fantastic in all weather, fast and fun to drive, and I can take into rougher

conditions when it snows and not be terrified that I'll scratch a wheel.

So, I figure if the engine holds up well I could have another 100k miles ahead. We will see..

Also, my wife gave me a framed diploma in Charlie work for my birthday since I do all the dirty work around here... Always Sunny in Philadelphia fans will enjoy this one.

This is the two piece insert. Still need the old mount. I have this one and it worked great. It is not listed for Volvo, but it is made for the old style square mount and fits perfectly. Focus Mk3 ST/RS (2011+) Transmission Mount
Interesting, wouldn't have guessed that would fit being made for a mk3 instead of a mk2 focus. Good to know!

I thought our cars were the Ford Parts Bin at it's finest :p When I first discover the crossfit of parts not meant to fit but do, I write the company like powerflex and tell them it fits without an issue. They never responded and never updating the listing. I'll give Whiteline credit here, whenever I buy a part not meant for my car and it fits, I take a picture and send it to them and they write back, say thank you and updating the listing.

Facelift taillights + mudflaps. Working on a custom part to fill the gap between the taillights and bumper and also about to build a custom lower diffuser.

Looks great! Were they plug and play?

Personally, I kind of like the pre-facelift tail lights on the S40, but glad you found a pair to customize your car with.
The pre-facelift tail lights on the V50, on the other hand, are absolutely horrible. The white turn signal in the top half really kills the look.

Thank you!

Unfortunately, not plug and play. The plugs are the same, but the wiring is different. I was going to just re-pin the harness, but found that difficult to do. I ended up splicing the wires about 6 inches before the plug, then used spade connectors (crimp style) to be able to swap around the wires. This means I can switch back to the old taillights if I want to by swapping around the spade connections.

I used high quality crimp connectors, the kind with the glue inside that grabs the wire too, so connections are secure and water resistant!

I personally feel like these taillights look more “Volvo” than the pre facelift ones, and the LED brake light is a big upgrade. I do like the prefacelift lights, but prefer these. I do agree on the v50 lights though!
