So the other day I got to borrow my C70 from my daughter and we went for a drive... when we got there I couldn't undo the drivers seat belt. 'Oh yeah, that's been sticking for a while' she tells me... I gave a a quick snarl of disapproval and asked when she had been planning to tell me about it... it was definitely latching properly but tricky to undo... I asked her what would happen if she needed to get out of the car in a hurry. I hadn't thought of that, she said, which I think proved the point that I do expect her to report any faults with the car, however insignificant they may seem.
Ordered replacement "seat belt receptacle' online yesterday for pickup at my local dealership, got the email that it was ready this afternoon, and since tomorrow is the start of my 'weekend' I decided to pull it into the garage to get the seat out so I could put it back in tomorrow after picking up the part.
Followed Michael's guide on FCP
here
Worked pretty well, with a couple of variations... first put the roof in the trunk, makes most interior jobs far easier when you have better access. Michael's first step is to disconnect the battery... not so great with electric seats... I suggest moving the seat all the way forwards first... undo and remove the belt retaining rod and the two rear mounting bolts, slide the seat fully back and only then disconnect the battery so you can get to the front mounts - All five of the bolts (the rod and four seat corners) on my car were 13mm. The bolt holding the electrical connector together was a 7mm, other than that it was exactly as advertised.
I found 32 cents, an earring and a T20 screwdriver bit among the piles of breakfast sandwich crumbs which have now been vacuumed out... have soaked the carpet in Shout Auto carpet cleaner to remove the coffee stains.
Seat Belt receptacle is bolted to the seat with a T50 bolt, there's also a self-destructing one-time plastic washer as part of the assembly which I'm really hoping is an on-the-shelf part at the dealership, otherwise it's off the road until I can get one: I'm not putting it back together without it.
