I was curious what the most popular boost gauge is for the R, with IPD's introduction of their R gauge how many have changed to IPD and where did you mount it?

I put this ugly thing in a dash cubby:
http://forums.swedespeed.com/z...11186
Not as bad looking as you'd think.

prosport electrical smoked lens dual color blue(night)/white(day) display mounted in a custom pod mounted on the door in the same location as the CFW pod.
I have heard other people complain about smoked lenses on gauges being difficult to read during the day, but with the white display on during the day (tied to the DRL) I haven't had any problems, and the blue at night actually compliments the blue R gauges nicely. For the money, it is hard to beat.
That being said, I would seriously consider the IPD gauge, but only if I went with a different mounting location.
Cheers,
Jeff

Someone else has a vintage orange boost gauge? One more and it's a new subculture.

Did you have to add wire to lengthen the harness to make it work?

I used heat-shrink over all of the soldering points and used scotch locks to tap into the "fused" side of of the fuses that I've indicated below.
Here is a link to my install thread on v70r.com: http://www.v70r.com/forums/ind...15876
Just in case the link doesn't work, here's the bit about what fuses I used (note that these fuse numbers are ONLY CORRECT FOR AN 04 R)
For anyone else looking to install a similar gauge, I ended up tapping the following fuses in the driver's side dash panel: red wire from gauge for constant 12V = fuse 1 (low beams), orange wire from gauge = fuse 14 (passenger seat), white wire from gauge = fuse 10 (DRL). This gives me a white display during the day while the DRL's are on and blue at night when the headlights are on.
Best of luck!
Cheers,
Jeff

IPD R gauge, to be delivered on Friday (after being backordered). I also have a CF Werks FRP Mirror pod coming in the next couple of weeks. I'll post up install pics when I do it.

From my understanding, yes, it's too deep.
Plus it's pretty difficult to get the vacuum line there unkinked, and keep it unkinked while opening/closing the door daily.
