I just swapped the original Pirelli PZeros for Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus. The Pirellis had 27,500 miles (yeah I know - scary!) and were completely shot. I expected a slight ride difference and maybe some extra noise from the new tires as the Pilots have a pretty aggressive tread.
The ride is a thousand times better. Not just slightly noticable but drastically noticable. With the Pirellis I almost never took the suspension out of comfort mode as any other setting seemed to lead to blood in my urine. Now with the Michelins it seems like the suspension works as designed; Comfort is almost to cushy, Sport is perfect and Advanced is still bone-jaring fun! The road noise is slightly more from these tires but certainly not a huge difference. I honestly couldn't be happier.
I have had the Pilots on dry and wet pavement so far and I'm extremely pleased with the grip and responsiveness in both conditions.
I have fallen in love with my R all over again!

Glad to hear it Steve! I had this same epiphany when I put the new Bridgestone Potenaz RE960s on this spring. I was considering the michelins you got, but when bridgestone route instead. Either way, you can't go wrong coming from those pirellis.

I know what you're saying about the P-Zeros; I experienced a revelation switching from them to PS2s a couple of years ago.
That said, when switching from almost any set of worn tires you are going to be surprised by how much quieter, smoother and better riding the new tires are. It's happened to me every time, regardless of the model and brand of the newer tires.
If you compared a brand new set of the Rossos to the Michelin's you would find much less difference, if any.
My PS2s, however, did hold the performance & comfort margin over the Rossos for the life of the tires. The PS2s didn't tramline at the end, unlike the extremely annoying Perelli's.

You make a good point. The Pirellis already had 20k on them when I bought the car so I never drove it while those tires were still in decent shape.
I expected a difference switching to the new tires I just didnt realize how much better it would be.

Re: What a difference tires make! (Steve07)

Just switched over mine this weekend from the Pirelli tires to the Falken FX452's. Only have put about 40 miles on them, but what a difference!! The alignment could have helped too. After 23,000 miles the fronts were done (partially due to this front tire slip issue I still have ). Headed up to Maine this weekend we will see how they are on the highway at speed.
