I just completed the iPd ecu upgrade with the SAM catback on my T5. Wow what a difference! I was motivated by the many discussions on this forum. Thanks to all. I'm going to have a ball. If anyone is thinking/hesitant about the upgrade... don't I thinks it's the best $2K i've spent in a long time. http://********************/smile/emthup.gif http://********************/smile/star.gif http://********************/smile/star.gif http://********************/smile/star.gif

Re: What a Blast! ([email protected])

It certainly louder than stock. I'm not sure of the TME unit other than it's 2.5" instead of 3" with the SAM. The SAM also has two resonators and the stock has only one. It definately growls on acceleration and down shifting providing a bit more feedback for the driver. A month in now and I'm having a ball.

I'm happy for you!

BTW, did you notice losing a little low-RPM torque versus stock setup? Mine appeared a little weaker below about 2000 RPM but obviously much stronger when it "comes on cam".

Re: What a Blast! (John W)

I think the difference is not really discernable. The original early lag in throttle response I found fairly annoying. Appearently common with the 01 t5. But with the mods I would say that the early hesitation is the same or even better. Have you thought of adding a filtercharger by K&N?

I have thought about that. However, I read somewhere, that there could be warranty "issues" if the filter spreads oil downstream into the manifold. Furthermore, with over 20 PSI of boost on tap, I personally think that the filter upgrade can't improve much on that besides an increase in intake noise.

Your mileage might vary!

There was some talk about dirty MAF sensors lately with the use of a K&N filter.
I use a SAM filter which I think is made by Jamex.

Re: What a Blast! (fave23)

Hey,

My dad is an inch close to getting the ECU and Chrome exhaust upgrades from EuroSport Tuning.

I'm wondering if they match up to those of iPd's SAM's.

Also, would these mods be of any 'bad' to the car cause of our weather (Singapore - Generally hot and humid all year round - Tropicalish Climate)

Cheers!

Re: What a Blast! (coladin)

Just back from England today. Hence the delay in responding. With IPD's instructions the ECU upgrade is fairly simple. If you can change your own oil, you can do this. The local Speedy did the exhaust because it cost me only $40 to install. It was shipped to me from the Oakville area.
By the way I rode in a rocket of a car in London and if it ever makes it here I would consider buying. The WRX STi . UK. Incredible handling and head snapping acceleration stock 300hp with a factory perfomance package. Subaru definately has world class package. About 30000 pounds = $75,000 can. http://********************/smile/emsmileo.gif http://********************/smile/emsmileo.gif
Anymore questions let me know. http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

Re: What a Blast! (Gotballs)

You asked how much the HP increased. Remember the old saying that HP sells cars but torque does the work. The S60 2.4T (LPT) torque increases from 210 lb ft to 275 lb ft, a 31% increase. THe HP increases "only" by 21%. THe info is on the IPD site for each car. The graphs that I have seen show the chipped torque to be greater than stock at all rpms up to near the maximum. At that point the torque falls off but is still above the stock setting.
Rich, wishing I had one of those puppies!
