One of my co-workers noticed my sun roof was on tilt in the parking lot and asked If I had the rain sensor and I replied “yes”, so she said “Oh, then your sun roof will close automatically If It rains.” Then I was like "HUH? What?" She said Volvo’s have a automatic system where If the windows are left down or sun roof is open and it rains they will close automatically. I know when it rains you need to TURN ON the rain sensor for just the wipers.
So who’s smoking the crack, me or her?

how about some testing?
just get out with a water hose, drain the rain sensor (not the open sunroof ) and watch if the car closes itself
cheers!
(alternative on that: wait for someone else who can provide useful information on that, not only crappy bullsh!t I would go with... hehe)

If what she says is true, then that's an awesome feature.

But I agree, a confirmation from a more reliable source would be useful.
cheers,
Raf

Volvo's website only says that the rain sensor is for the wipers and needs to be turned on like you said...

Working in power windows, there is no way any safety standard would allow for a window to close without some human interaction. It just doesn't look good from a liability standpoint. What happens if you kid is in the car, it starts raining and he/she has his/her hand out the window?
edit: To answer your question, I think she is on crack.

Re: Whaaaat? Really?? (cdauerer)

I have left my car in the rain with the sunroof and/or windows open way too many times to know that the rain sensors don't close the windows/sunroof automatically

If you roll up your window and put your arm out the window will roll up, notice your arm and roll down again. I know this because my friend ask for a ride 2 or 3 years ago and I told him he could get in if he let his nose get stuck in the window. I wasn't happy when it rolled back down
Anyway, the whole rainsensor thing isn't possible I believe since my windows stop going up when I turn off the car and take out the key. My car is fitted with the small battery so I don't know if it is just because it doesn't have enough power.
