I was checking out VWVortex the other day. My buddy owns an "R32", so what do you think they refer to them as....that's right..."R's". I suppose the new MB "R series" will be called 'Rs' too...so much for exclusivity...
This has been a topic of late concerning BMW and their 'M' line up. They didn't take to kindly to Infiniti using the 'M' moniker to describe their cars either.

Re: We're not the only "R" s (pafox)

Well...there are only 26 letters in the alphabet. Perhaps "exclusive" cars should be named using the Greek alphabet or maybe Cuneiform? I swear, the way people put so much emphasis on badges...

I wasn't so much complaining as making an observation...I'm sure there are studies on what letters are more effective in advertising and such....It is ridiculous to get bent out of shape for using a letter on one car on brand 'A' and the same letter on brand 'B'

Well, you're forgetting the Aston Martin dbR9, the type-R Hondas, the gt-R nissans, the jaguar S-type R and xjR, the Audi Rs4, Rs6...
R is for racing. You'll see it used a LOT. (or for 'refinement' in Volvo's case )

They feel like the badge makes the car somehow. I can't tell you the number of fake M3's I've seen. They buy the wheels, put on the badge, even some make the side grills and the quad exhaust but in the end, yes it's a 4 door 325i.

It actually takes work now between the flares and puting in the fender vents. Before you could just slap on a badge and an exhaust and make pretend. I suspect BMW did that on purpose to protect the M image from the poseurs.

PhilUp, where'd you come up with cuneiform? There are 3 of those bones in your foot. I look at them every day.
Nissan Sentra also has an R. I saw one yesterday.

I have the blue takspeed pins with the engraved R's, so that's four extra Rhp for me.
