I mean, the car was like night and day. I could romp on his car, but not by that much, now that he has a chip, its freakin insane fast!! I couldn't even believe the difference in power that his car has now, its so much of a drastic change. i'm hoping someone that has an ipd, or evolve chip, has gone for a ride in one of these cars to let me know how a chip can compare to an s4.<p>thanx

yea i've heard that the 2.7 liter bi-turbo engine gets quite an amount of power and torque increase with chiptuning... not sure why, maybe it's the bi-turbo difference... it's kind of annoying actually. <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/sly.gif" BORDER="0"> <p>because our cars don't get up and go like that with just a chip. i mean they do change of course but it's nothing like that S4.<p>i wouldn't know about the S60R though. i drive an S60T5. <p>but i'm guessing that an R could not gain more than 30-40 hp with just a chip either.

if i remember right, a couple have posted dyno runs of their car before and after the BSR PPC, and showed gains of 30-35 at the wheels. I think the BSR tunes are quite aggressive though, so other chips may not have the same gains.<p>do note, though, that BSR's tunes doesnt support the use of downpipes....so unless you plan on running race gas every time to prevent detonation when/if you use a DP with the BSR PPC, look elswhere for a chip.

More potential in the B5 S4. I know someone that has one and stock he runs 14.2 in the qtr mile, just with the GIAC-X-Chip he is running 13.2 in the qtr. mile. God Bless <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/smile.gif" BORDER="0">

From the factory, they may be relatively easy swaps, but as we know from tuning the R, they have dramatic differences.

I drove a buddy's S60 T5 with an IPD chip the other night while he drove my stock S60R. His is GT and mine is MT. I'm wondering which would be quicker. I know on paper his would have more HP and torque would be close, but I still felt like my stock R was quicker (a bit) than his chipped T5 GT...especially on low end and even at speed.<p>He had my R up to 115mph on the highway <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/eek.gif" BORDER="0"> I haven't had it that fast. He's a speed demon though. Fortunately is was late and minimal traffic on the highway. I must admit the R sounded good (even without the JRL mod) flying by me at over 100 mph. <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://********************/smile/emthup.gif" BORDER="0">

My friend has told me that those S4 engines come from the factory very de-tuned, they have several people running over 500+whp on the stock block and head, just bolt on bigger turbos, injectors, downpipe, and ECU tuning. I believe they come stock from the factory with forged rods and pistons, and maybe even the crankshaft. God Bless <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/smile.gif" BORDER="0">
