Hi All
I just wanted to say farewell to everyone. Tonight, i made a choice to divert away from the S40 and purchase a 2006 Audi A4 Quattro 6-speed. I was not 100% satisfied with the purchase of the S40, and decided to give Audi a try. I absolutely fell in love with the car: handling, awesome engine 2.0FSI turbo, instrument cluster, clutch..etc
Hopefully pick up the Audi tomorrow or Saturday.
I appreciate all the help and support over the past year!
Greg

Re: well it was fun (drexplode)

Greg, mind posting a comparison report after a few weeks of driving a four-ringer? I for one like Audi's interior design, feels comfortable and well though of.

I would have purchased a 2005.5 Audi A4 2.0 if it wasn't 38,000 for what I wanted...I surely like Audi and think the A4 has a beautiful interior. Good luck!

OK , I'll explain . I really wanted a refined V8 , especailly the C55 amg, but that car is at least for me too expensive. I couldn't import the GTO to germany so I took a Volvo, now I found out that I'll be moving to the states, C55 amg still to expensive but I think I'll be happy with my wallet influenced GTO vs C55 (not v50 , I've sold it today) 32 k is a bargan for 400 hp

In about 40+ miles, and 2-3 hours of driving time; i have had only 3-5 jerky shifts. I can actually go from 4-5 easily, and 5-6!!! Also, the ride quality and comfort...
The dealership that i purchased the car from was absolutely a pleasure to deal with, they even offer to come pick up my car for free service and return it if i'm in a bind. NO charge. (i live about 30 miles away)
I should have went the audi way from the beginging..but the exterior styling of the volvo is to die for.
I appreciate all the positive feedback guys...i will definitely stay in touch, and with this thread.

Hope your engine doesn't die in 2-3 years. I know 5 A4 1.8T owners, and 4 of the 5 had their engines completely die. 3 were blown, and another cracked his block. Gotta love Audi and VW.
Good luck with your car! Sorry you didn't like the S40.

Re: (VolvoINSIDE)

well, i dont know too much about the 1.8T. However, i do know that the 2.0T FSI turbo is receiving a lot of praise and press from multiple reliable sources.
i wish all the best of luck with their S40s. It is a dead sexy car.
Re: well it was fun (drexplode)

Lets face it, if you want high reliability in a car you have to buy Japanese! ALL cars manufacturers have their reliability issues to deal with, the Japanese just do it the best. I have had two Audi's and loved the cars, but they did have their problems. When I started looking for my latest car, I wanted another Audi or BMW. All things considered, the Volvo looked to be the best value. I will see how this plays out in the coming years. The Germans and Volvo have been pretty consistently ranked together as far as quality (except Mercedes which has fallen to the bottom of reliability rating lists). The deciding factor for me was the price. Audi use to be reasonably priced, now they have gone the way of BMW by overpricing their cars. THEY JUST AREN'T WORTH THE PREMIUM PRICE! I love Audi's, they are beautiful cars. I just don't think they are worth the extra $5K. This is my first Volvo, and time will tell.

Re: well it was fun (cmy4x4)

the audi is a little bit more expensive; however, i would have never purchased it if i didnt receive 6% off MSRP supplier discount. Thanks Uncle Bob (Robert Bosch)!
So far, i cant stop looking out my window to stare at it. Can't wait to finally move into my house and put her in the garage
It was interesting, the audi dealership had a reliability chat that displayed for MY05, audi was in the top 5; behind lexus, infiniti, and acura.
