So a little back story needs to be told here first of all. I like to be nice to my friends so when my best friend/roommate asked me to borrow my car for the day to go see his grandpa (who is getting pretty old so he may not be able to see him very many more times) I said of course you can borrow my car, as long as you are very careful. Becasue his beater a$$ truck cant make the drive. I trust this guy just as much as I trust any one. Well he called me about 20 min ago with some pretty disappointing news.. He was on his way home when a guy ran the red light and hit him in my car. Front driver side looks pretty bad from the picture. He still isnt home yet because he had to do a police report and everything, so he sent me a picture.

Sorry its a terrible cell phone pic

So I guess from here begins the adventure... I have never had an accident or had a vehicle in an accident so Im not entierly sure what I should do from here. I know I have to call tomorrow and figure everything out with insurance and how that guy that hit my friend will be paying for everything... But after that I dont really know what to do... Any and all help would be greatly appreciated in advance

I'm sorry to hear that. Depending on what year your R is.....it may be a total considering how much damage there is to the suspension and under the hood. Getting tboned hides alot of damage... Good Luck and glad your friend is safe.

Hopefully they total it.

Remember, Allstate is the company that looked at my car that had gone off a cliff and decided, "yeah, that's worth fixing"

Yeah everyone is ok so that's good news. I filed a claim this morning with the guy whos fault it was' insurance so now it's just a waiting game. I love my car so hopefully they don't have to total it but if they do then I guess I can get another one. Even better one this time. Gotta look on the bright side

So, I probably just don't know how to assess damage, but that doesn't look too bad. It can be fixed.

For a lot of money.

It may be totaled even though it's (I'm guessing) mechanically sound.

Something like that could still be a total for some insurance companies... Especially when just a headlight will cost you about $1,000 bucks...

BTW What is with the wheels??????

Wow, and the deer caused an estimated $4,000 damage and all I could see was the plastic bumper retainer broke and a busted fog light.. (It hasn't been fixed yet) Add in a new headlight, hood, fender, wiper motor, paint. They could easily total it.

I find this mildly hilarious as I just sold my used FULLY FUNCTIONAL light for $250.

Colovolvo, you could have come up to Fort Collins, pocketed the $600 difference, and had my light for the $500 I wanted for it. That's what I get for getting antsy after carrying it around for a year.
