Welcome to swedespeed.com. As the newest endeavour for the Bverticals network of enthusiast websites, we have big plans for this site. We hope you like what you see, as we fully expect swedespeed to become one of the foremost Volvo communities.
George Achorn
Senior Editor
Swedespeed
a part of the Bverticals network
http://www.swedespeed.com
http://www.vwvortex.com
http://www.audiworld.com
http://www.pickuptruck.com

The site looks great!! WAY better than any other Volvo site I've seen so far, congrats fellas.
Oh by the way, there's a couple of minor mistakes in the S60 article. ie. "The 2.4-liter is the plain-Jane model, with 168 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque from the low-pressure turbo..." while the 2.4 is naturally aspirated.
and "The 2.4T also gets the 5-speed manual standard, and the 5-speed regular automatic as an option..." while I believe the automatic is standard and the only choice of transmission on the 2.4T.
Hope you don't get the idea that I'm nit-picking , just trying to be helpful here.
Again congrats!!! From now on I'll another site to get addicted to besides the Vortex!

Concerning the equipment of the cars and costs and everything like that, to which country do you refer?
Does this site have a 'home country' (more american or more european) or is it international?

It could eventually. We have a staffer who is a Volvo nut, but right now it's just Volvo. Who knows, a mirror Saab site is possible, but not in the cards yet. I'm sorry.
Thanks for the help MoMo.
We're based in America, but would like to have as much a European flair as possible. Right now all of our staff is in the USA, albeit spread out (Washington, DC and Chicago to be precise). We're working with Volvo directly to try to bring some great information. If you have any suggestions, let em fly.
Thanks for the compliments guys.

I was just checking the Volvospy.com forums and noticed that the moderators of that site deliberately deleted all the posts that promoted or even mentioned the opening of Swedespeed. Another sign of the huge inferiority complex over there?
I've seen low in their site before....but not THIS low.....

Fresh Alloy split from us.
On Volvospy, we were mentioned? It's a pretty nice site. Sad to hear that if it is true. We have them linked on our Links list in the Resources section.
BTW, on Saab, don't count on it anytime soon. We'd much rather work out some sort of relationship with Saabnet as it is really the foremost in that area.

BTW , I'm not sure what's going on, but I'd just assume not push the rivalry thing with Volvospy or anyone else. I like their sites, and fueding doesn't really help the community.

Ok, lets put some things rights about the volvospy.com thing
It is a site policy you don't make any advertising for your site in the forums on volvospy.com. We don't make any exceptions.
I know some visitors overreacted in our forums, but that is because a month ago some people from vwvortex.com started flame wars in our forums. The fact that swedespeed.com is affiliated with vwvortex.com was enough for some people to be irritated.
We at volvospy.com can only encourage people to make Volvo related sites, the more the merrier. We distance ourselves from some of our visitors who don't see it that way.
kind regards,
Joachim - webmaster volvospy.com

Joachim, welcome. Nice site BTW. I don't think we've ever spoken.
I looked into this a little bit. As a site owner, certainly you can understand that you are about as responsible for someone making statements waving the Volvospy flag as anyone from Vortex is for one of our users doing the same. Certainly you cannot control the actions of your users and with over 17K registered members on Vortex, certainly we cannot either.
I will assume, unless I hear from you personally, that Volvospy is not speaking but simply one of their users. You can assume the same from us. The people running Swedespeed are Chuck Macak, Paul Grimes and myself. Jamie Vondruska, from VWvortex also contributes. You can assume you are talking to Vortex or Swedespeed directly if you speak with one of us.
At Vortex, and now at Swedespeed, we do not endorse or support any group virtual spamming, or flaming. Second, we try to discourage that sort of act to the best of our abilities. We do encourage healthy discussion without flaming or name calling on our site, and I would assume you do the same.
That said, I have a lot of respect for your site. I hope this hasn't gotten us off to a bad start, because, like you say, I don't think that is appropriate or helpful to the Volvo community. That would be truly unfortunate.
Thanks for stopping by to clear things up.
To everyone else, thanks for the compliments.
Turbo_Nine, yes Scott's site is a tremendous resource as well. I'm not a big fan of their forums software, but we have that debate regularly between ourselves and our colleagues at Audiworld. We'd love to talk to him at some point about working together. Paul is a longtime user of SN and has owned several Saabs, including a really cool '86 SPG that he recently sold.

Swedespeed Staff,
Congrats on a very sight. The smiles are great... I just tried one.
My friend Darell w/ a '01 V70T5 emailed me about your sight... otherwise I would have been in the dark. Let's keep spreading the news!
How about getting your sight listed up on Volvos Owner's Circle / Lifestyles / Clubs - http://new.volvocars.com/ownerscircle/index.html ?
That's how I discovered Brickboard which led me to V-Spy.
Thanks & continued success!

Hi -
I'm Darell, and I'd like to vouch for Rob :)
All new sites seem to have their strengths, and I'm glad to see a new one, as slick as this one, start. It also gladdens me to see the owners of two of my favorite sites opening a dialog early on, to clear up any ill will. I would be short several friends if I didn't regularly contribute to the "other" two Volvo boards. I hope to make some new friends here as well.
Thanks agian for the oportunity, and the excellent forum.
- Darell

Hey guys, thanks for posting. I just sent an email to Volvo about trying to get us listed. Thanks for pointing that out.
BTW, in all honesty, I have a lot of respect for Volvospy and BB. I'm not sure what happened there, but I think there's been a rivalry between some users of vwvortex and volvospy and that carried over.
No matter, it's no big deal and there's absolutely no ill will at all.
Now all we need to do is get some more content up. Granted, we've only been around for a week, so our articles are thin right now, but vwvortex is a good indication of where this is going. http://www.vwvortex.com
