We're really getting sick of transmission problems. The XC90 is on it's 3rd one and my 850 is currently getting swapped over to a manual because my automatic finally failed. Now we're having tranny problems with the XC70. I really hope it's just a TNN software update that we've missed over the years or something.
So it mostly happens when shifting 2nd to 3rd, half throttle or more (rarely happens at less but still has happened), and sometimes between 1st and 2nd. When shifting, the tranny just lets it out of gear for a split second and it revs about 1K rpms higher and then shifts into the higher gear. And when floored, it means it jumps to 7K+ (yes I know it has a rev limiter, it doesn't hit it) before shifting into the next gear... scary. It's happening and more and more lately.
Any ideas?

That's nothing my dad wants to hear considering how much I'm spending on my manual swap and he thinks I'm nuts.
I checked the fluid. Full, and still red. So it's definately the fluid at all. I'm bringing it to Volvo to see if it's missed a TNN or flash update somewhere down the line. I'm thinking the problem is electrical, not mechanical.

Re: weird shifting problems (850arrrsaylikepirate)

Any volvo with the T6 engine has the GM tranny. No real years to stay away from, just all T6's. So stay away from those. And it's a huge shame too, the T6 is such a nice engine.
