Hey all-

The wife's '08 S40 has recently started this new thing where in aux (mp3) mode, there is a buzzing/static-like sound that plays through the speakers. It is continuous, and increases as volume is turned up, and is at the point where you can hear it over the music. It's not the cord we use to connect the ipod, and it's not related to the ipod since this happens with nothing plugged in as well.

Of course, her warranty expired in April. Any thoughts, stereo masters?

Have it in my car, when I remove the plug. I just think it is a very senstive plug/socket. I don't have it all the time. Do you get it when you remove the plug aswell?

By plug you mean the 3.5 mm jack cord? It's there even when nothing (even no cord) is plugged in.

I’ve got the same issue on my 2008 C30. I thought it might have been due to excessively high music volume. Has anyone figured out how to fix the static noise?

Ground loop, your auxiliary port isn't grounded probably and is acting like an antenna. Either your cord isn't making a connection to the player or the radio plug.
